Coming out of Palermo, as originally planned, we were supposed to go straight to Verdura Resort, another resort at Rocco Forte Hotels. It happened that the small town of Corleone was recommended by a certain book, saying that there was a mafia museum here. Having watched our godfather grow up, we immediately became interested, and decisively turned the head of the car, ready to go and find out.
The road to Corleone is getting worse and worse, and even after passing by a large field, we also met a shepherd walking sheep, my friends and I quickly stopped the car to make way, and we didn't dare to go out, after all, this is the territory of the mafia.
After running all the way, he finally came to Corleone after passing through the sheep and dodging the carriage. But apparently the mafia's territory is not so easy to break into, I went around the town, and I didn't see a parking lot, so I had no choice but to park the car in the square in front of the town government and the church, thinking that with the blessing of God and the government, it would be safe after all.
I still think it's a little funny when I think about it now, and I didn't have any travel and leisure at all. Didn't wander around the town, we followed the navigation straight to the museum, spent 20 euros to buy a ticket, the result was the little brother who sold the ticket to take us to visit, after entering the can not help but sigh "believe in a certain book, it is better to have no book".
The so-called museum is to post some photos of mafia members, accompanied by some explanations, briefly explaining the history of the development and decline of the mafia. But the good news is that at the end of the walk, there are photos of all the mafia leaders who have been captured on the wall of a room that resembles a village committee meeting room, and interestingly, one of the mafia bosses was arrested at a clinic near this town.
Although the museum did not bring any surprises, after shopping, I suddenly realized that although the movie "The Godfather" is a fictional story, the main characters are all from Corleone, and even the name of the protagonist Godfather is Corleone, which can be regarded as a "tribute" to these mafias in reality.
After this mafia vignette, we obediently hit the ground and headed towards Verdura Resort. It was dusk when we arrived, but it was hard to hide the beauty of its silence. The house and the walls, lawns and roads, different colors, different shapes and different textures are perfectly combined here to form the right amount of beauty. The interior of the room is also the classic Italian design that Rocco Forte Hotels has always been, making people feel comfortable as soon as they get closer.
Before we could fully enjoy the beauty, our stomachs became hungry, and we quickly packed up and went out to forage for food. It's very big and there are bicycles everywhere in the hotel. We didn't hesitate to ride our bikes to the restaurant.
Verdura Resort has three restaurants and we went to Liolà. It's an authentic Sicilian bistro with a vibrant colour palette and plenty of classic Sicilian cuisine to choose from, as well as an expansive outdoor terrace with stunning cliff views.
Maybe the dishes here are too delicious, or maybe we are too hungry, we can't help but order three main dishes, and eat all of them, which can be regarded as completely compensating for the fatigue of the day.
After a full meal, we got on our beloved bikes and got ready to go back, only to realize how comfortable this breezy evening was. Verdura Resort is also a step-by-step scene, and riding in it is like you are making a movie. In particular, the main building in the night looks unreal against the different blue of the sky and the pool.
However, it gets dark too quickly, and fatigue strikes again, and the visit to the hotel can only be left to tomorrow.
