CCF Director Introduction:

On October 29, 2023, the 13th General Assembly of CCF elected a new Board of Directors by secret ballot and differential election. The Council is the executive body of the General Assembly, and participates in the decision-making of major affairs of the Society in accordance with the provisions of the CCF Constitution and the authorization of the General Assembly. In order to better display, communicate and construct the governance philosophy of the directors, the CCF official account has specially launched a series of special topics [CCF Directors Say], inviting the directors to give advice and suggestions, and also welcome fans and viewers to actively comment and leave messages.

CCF Director | Tian Feng, a researcher at the Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences: "Although the road is far away, it is coming"

Tian Feng is a distinguished member and director of CCF, director of CCF Human-Computer Interaction Committee, and researcher of the Institute of Software Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Human-computer interaction is an important source of epoch-making changes in computers. Forty years ago, Apple and Microsoft ushered in the era of the personal computer with the introduction of graphical user interfaces. Nearly two decades ago, Apple's natural interaction technologies such as multi-finger touch drove widespread adoption of smartphones. Nowadays, human beings are entering the era of intelligent interconnection of all things with the ternary integration of man-machine-things, and a new generation of computing forms for the ternary integration of man-machine-things such as spatial computing is taking shape, and disruptive human-computer interaction technology will also become a new qualitative productivity to promote industrial transformation and development. There is fierce competition in the world in terms of core technologies, intellectual property rights and key standards in the field of human-computer interaction. In 2022, the National Science and Technology Commission's National Strategy for Critical and Emerging Technologies and Vision for Technology in the Age of Competition both listed human-computer interaction as a key technology area. At the same time, China's human-computer interaction discipline and talent team have made great progress with the strong support of the state, but there are also problems such as lack of support for independent discipline codes, insufficient support for major key projects, and lack of support for talent projects.

The Human-Computer Interaction Committee of the China Computer Federation is committed to gathering multidisciplinary academic and industrial elites in the fields of computer, design, psychology and other human-computer interaction related fields, closely integrating academia and industry, using interdisciplinary advantages to carry out various forms of activities, promoting the development of human-computer interaction and related technical fields, and cultivating first-class human-computer interaction talents.

Since its establishment more than ten years ago, under the leadership of researcher Dai Guozhong and Professor Shi Yuanchun, the special committee has played an important role in helping the development of human-computer interaction discipline and the construction of talent team. For example, in 2022, Professor Wang Yongtian, then deputy director of the special committee, submitted the "Proposal on Incorporating Human-Computer Interaction into the Second-level Application Code of the National Natural Science Foundation of China" as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which had a great impact.

On this basis, how to further promote the development of human-computer interaction discipline and the construction of talent team through the activities of the society is the primary task that I need to do as a director and director of the special committee of the society. After careful consideration, the new special committee intends to help the development of Chinese-computer interaction discipline and the construction of talent team through the development of the following brand activities.

In terms of discipline development, the special committee will focus on two activities: "Xiuhu Conference" and "HHME Conference".

First, the special committee held the "Xiuhu Conference" in the field of human-computer interaction in March. Scholars in related fields in China will be invited to focus on the two topics of "new technologies to promote the development of interaction naturalness in the era of intelligence, and new perspectives of interaction theory and paradigm change in the era of intelligence". It is hoped that through this activity, the common key issues of human-computer interaction in the era of intelligence will be formed, the key direction of human-computer interaction in the future will be clarified for the major needs of the country and the international academic frontier, and at the same time, the suggestions for possible major tasks will be discussed and condensed and submitted to important national departments at the right time.

Second, the special committee will strive to hold the "Joint Academic Conference on Harmonious Human-Machine Environment (HHME)". This year will be the 20th joint academic conference on harmonious human-machine environment. Twenty years ago, the predecessors who founded HHME had a visionary vision and took the harmonious human-machine environment as the name of the conference, and now this field is vibrant. At present, HHME is an academic joint conference composed of three academic conferences: the National Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI), the National Conference on Universal Computing (PCC), and the National Conference on Wearable Computing (CWCC), and has become a grand event in the field of computer science in China. This year, the human-computer interaction committee is the rotating organizer, and we will strive to do a good job in various organizational work, do a good job in brand activities, and strive to make it an important platform to promote academic exchanges, industrial innovation, and industry-university-research interaction.

In terms of talent team construction, the special committee will focus on two activities: "human-computer interaction into universities" and "industry-university-research cooperation project".

First, in view of the current problem of human-computer interaction in the majority of universities, especially in second- and third-tier cities and underdeveloped areas, there is a shortage of talents. The special committee will carry out a series of activities of "human-computer interaction into colleges and universities" in a targeted manner. In 2023, some outstanding young and middle-aged scholars in the Human-Computer Interaction Special Committee will visit Qinghai University, Qinghai University for Nationalities, Guangxi University and other schools, and have produced good results. In the future, the special committee will invite more outstanding human-computer interaction scholars to enter more schools, so that the seeds of human-computer interaction can take root there.

Second, closely integrate academia and industry, organize and carry out industry-university-research cooperation projects. The integration of production, education and research is the characteristic of human-computer interaction, and it is also one of the focuses of the special committee's work. This year, under the leadership of the Society, the special committee will discuss the development of industry-university-research cooperation projects with enterprises. At present, the special committee is discussing with Lenovo the "CCF-Lenovo Blue Ocean Scientific Research Fund Human-Computer Interaction Project". The project will solicit scientific research topics from scholars in the field of human-computer interaction, especially young and middle-aged scholars with great innovation potential, and provide financial support to help them grow.

"Although the road is far away, it is coming", human-computer interaction is a cutting-edge but urgent need to develop the discipline, the special committee will make full use of the characteristics and advantages of human-computer interaction under the guidance of the predecessors of human-computer interaction to carry out various activities. In addition to the above activities, the special committee will also carry out activities such as the writing of the "Ten Lectures on Human-Computer Interaction" of the "Frontier Series of Computer Science", summer schools for young scholars and students, and human-computer interaction competitions held in cooperation with enterprises, striving to help the development of Chinese's human-computer interaction discipline and the construction of talent team in many aspects.

Here, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Society for its strong support and guidance to the Human-Computer Interaction Committee and myself.
