The United States vetoed Palestine's accession to the United Nations, saying that unless the Israeli side agrees, China's response hit the nail on the head

Under the joint pressure of many parties, the United States, which has long supported Israel, finally made a rare concession on the "two-state solution." However, the unwilling United States does not intend to really fulfill its promises, and even once again stands on the opposite side of the international community. According to information published on the United Nations website cited by the Observer, the Security Council held a vote on the approval of Palestine's membership in the United Nations on the 18th. It is regrettable and infuriating that although this proposal was agreed to by 12 member states, including China, the United States used its veto power to pass the resolution when two countries abstained and one country opposed.

In an explanatory statement at the end of the meeting, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Mr. Wood, argued that the United States' decision did not mean opposition to the two-state solution, but that only the Palestinians and Israelis could achieve Palestinian statehood through direct negotiations and agreement. In the face of the unreasonable sophistry of the US representative, Fu Cong, the new permanent representative of China to the United Nations, hit back in an explanatory speech, pointing out that the Chinese side is "very disappointed" with the decision made by the US side.

Fu Cong said that some countries complained that they should not rush to allow Palestine to join the United Nations, but ignored that Palestine had applied 13 years earlier, but the Security Council's action was forced to suspend due to the opposition of individual countries, so this statement is insincere. Fu Cong stressed that any country that sincerely supports the two-state solution should not oppose Palestine becoming a full member of the United Nations. The next day, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian was asked what he thought of Deputy Fu Cong's speech at the UN Security Council at a regular news conference.

The spokesman made it clear that the decades-old dreams of the Palestinian people had been ruthlessly shattered by the United States veto, and that history and the world would remember this perverse act of the United States. The spokesman pointed out that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is still prolonging, the demands of the people in the region for an immediate ceasefire cannot be denied, and the basic needs of the civilians in Gaza for humanitarian assistance cannot be denied, and only by establishing an independent Palestinian state as soon as possible can we promote peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel and thus achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. From the Security Council to the press briefing room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China has repeatedly expounded its views and position on the Palestinian-Israeli issue to the world through its solemn statements again and again.

In the process, China's criticism of the United States has become more and more direct, from the initial avoidance of names to the current "name call". Behind this is the indignation and dissatisfaction of the forces of international justice, including China, and the United States and Israel, two allies that continue to obstruct international cooperation and undermine the regional peaceful environment.

On the other hand, however, we must also realize that even if Palestine is successfully admitted as a full member of the United Nations without the United States intervening this time, it cannot be asserted that there will be no conflict between Palestine and Israel in the future. In the final analysis, promoting the establishment of a Palestinian state is only the first step in Palestinian-Israeli reconciliation, and what can truly achieve long-term peace and stability is that the Western hegemony will no longer interfere in the situation in the Middle East. At the same time, Israel can abandon its preconceived notions and truly integrate into the Middle East region, living in peace with all countries in the region, including Palestine. To this end, the international community must exert more pressure on the United States and Israel and devote more attention to the situation in Gaza.

More importantly, countries in the Middle East must reach a high degree of consensus on the Palestinian-Israeli issue, and only through concerted action can the United States have no choice but to force Israel to face reality seriously. In other words, the Security Council will suffer no fewer setbacks on the Palestinian-Israeli issue in the future, but these failures will eventually turn into the driving force for a comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli issue and the soil for US hegemony in the Middle East.
