CSCEC has developed a new type of C50 concrete: carbon emissions have been reduced by 52%, and the compressive strength has reached 68MPa in 28 days

China Construction Eighth Bureau silica sol low-carbon concrete (C50), that is, a certain amount of silica sol, alumina and other nanomaterials are mixed into conventional concrete, which strengthens cement stone from the microstructure, reduces the amount of cement, significantly reduces the carbon emissions of concrete, and ensures the workability and strength of concrete, and the measured compressive strength reaches 68MPa in 28 days.

Technological advantages

  • Green and low-carbon

Compared with ordinary concrete, the low-carbon concrete can greatly increase the amount of mineral admixture under the same water-glue ratio, and its carbon emissions can be reduced by about 52%, which fully meets the requirements of green and low-carbon building materials standards.

  • Nano-strengthened

The low-carbon concrete adds nanomaterials such as silica sol and alumina to improve the hydration reaction rate and product properties of the concrete, significantly reducing carbon emissions, effectively ensuring the working strength of the concrete, and further improving the durability.

After third-party testing, the measured compressive strength of the low-carbon concrete reached 68MPa in 28 days.

The reconstruction and expansion project of the Qihe to Jinan section of the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway undertaken by China Construction Eighth Bureau starts from the Yancheng hub where the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway and the Jiliao Expressway intersect, passes through Qihe County of Dezhou City, Huaiyin District and Shizhong District of Jinan City, and ends at the Yinjialin hub where the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway and Jiguang Expressway and the southern section of the Jinan Ring Expressway intersect. The total length of the reconstruction and expansion project is about 24 kilometers, and the standard construction of two-way twelve-lane highway is adopted, with a design speed of 120 km/h. After completion, it will further shorten the distance between Jinan, Tai'an and Dezhou, and is of great strategic significance for strengthening the coordinated and integrated development of the provincial capital economic circle.
