Recently, at the 2024 INFORMS Analytics Conference of the Operations Research and Management Science Society, JD.com won the 2024 INFORMS Prize, the top award in the field of international operations research, for its supply chain operations research optimization technology, becoming the first Asian company to receive this honor in the 34-year history of the award.

The Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS) is the world's most important international society in the field of operations research and management science. The INFORMS Prize began in 1991 and is selected annually, generally for one winner, with a few years that have been two or vacant, and is awarded to an enterprise organization or institution that has applied operations research and management science effectively in a pioneering, diversified, innovative and sustainable manner, and is a semi-lifetime achievement award, and the winner cannot apply again for 10 years. Previous winners include Walmart, Amazon, UPS, General Motors, Intel, etc.
JD.com is the first company in Asia to win the 2024 INFORMS Prize
JD.com has actively applied operations research and data science to achieve user-centric supply chain management and more efficient and faster responses. JD has built a self-developed intelligent supply chain system, the core of which is to improve user experience and optimize cost and efficiency, in dozens of "Asia No. 1" intelligent logistics parks and hundreds of smart warehouses, technology drives hundreds of thousands of JD Logistics front-line employees and logistics robots to work together, to achieve warehouse delivery, logistics transportation, terminal distribution and other supply chain efficiency optimization and upgrading. At present, 95% of JD.com's self-operated orders can be delivered within 24 hours. As of the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, JD.com's supply chain infrastructure assets reached 153.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16%, and on the basis of more than 10 million SKUs of self-operated goods, JD.com maintained the world's leading level of inventory turnover days of 30.3 days.
By continuously optimizing logistics networks and distribution routes, efficiently managing inventory, quickly processing orders, and coordinating the supply chain, JD.com is also more effectively helping merchants reduce costs and increase efficiency. During the 2024 JD New Year Festival, JD Smart Supply Chain will give more than 620,000 supply chain decision-making suggestions such as replenishment and transfer every day to help merchants better predict demand, guide production, and arrange inventory. In addition, JD Cloud's self-developed Yanxi large model and the "Digital Intelligence Computing Matrix" that adapts to the needs of AI computing power, including a series of cost-effective technical infrastructures such as Yunjian, Yunhai and Jinggang, as well as a series of AI products such as virtual anchors and intelligent outbound calls, not only promote JD's own rapid development, but also drive the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain to accelerate the process of digital-real integration, and help improve the efficiency of merchants' supply chain and intelligent services.
