It's a pity that the United States doesn't seem to think so, they pay more attention to protecting their own small circle and don't want foreign products to come in.
That Yellen even said that she would take action against our Chinese products, which is typical of trade protectionism. This is not good for anyone. It will not only make the economic and trade relations between the two countries more tense, but also may affect the global trade environment and make everyone unhappy.
In the face of the tough attitude of the United States, we in China will not just forget it. We Chinese have always had backbone, are not afraid of things, and will not back down. Not long after Yellen said those words, our deputy secretary of the Treasury immediately left for the United States to have a meeting with them.
In that meeting, we were very clear about our position and concerns. Let's tell the United States that cooperation is the only way to achieve a win-win situation, and it is not good for anyone to always engage in confrontation and trade war. China has always attached great importance to economic and trade cooperation with the United States, and is willing to continue to cooperate well with the United States and develop together.
But we also hope that the United States can understand that cooperation is based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. If the United States always wants to use tough means to suppress us, then we will certainly take necessary measures to safeguard our own interests.
I hope that the United States can put aside those prejudices and misgivings, sit down with us and have a good talk, and find a solution to the problem. Only in this way can the economic and trade relations between the two countries continue to develop in a healthy and stable manner, which will be beneficial to the people of the two countries and to the global economy.
But we also know that it's not easy. After all, the economic and trade relations between the two countries are complex and involve many aspects. Moreover, there seem to be some people in the United States who are prejudiced against China and always look at us with colored glasses. This requires us to be more patient and wise to resolve these differences and contradictions.
But one thing is certain, and that is that neither protectionism nor unilateralism is a good approach. They will only exacerbate the contradictions and hurt both countries. On the contrary, openness and cooperation are the only way to benefit both countries and make the global economy more prosperous.
