Prices of livestock products and feed bazaars in the second week of April

According to the monitoring of 500 county bazaars and collection points across the country, in the second week of April (the collection date is April 11), the prices of live pig products and commercial egg chicks rose month-on-month, while the prices of eggs, commercial broiler chicks, chicken, cattle and sheep products, and feed products fell.

Hog product prices. The national average price of piglets was 36.49 yuan/kg, up 2.6% from the previous week and down 1.1% year-on-year. Piglet prices rose in 28 provinces including Tianjin, Xinjiang, Hunan, Hebei and Shanxi, and piglet prices in Ningxia were flat. The price in central China was higher at 38.85 yuan/kg, and the price in southwest China was lower at 30.20 yuan/kg. The national average price of live pigs was 15.40 yuan/kg, up 0.2% from the previous week and 5.3% year-on-year. Pig prices rose in 21 provinces including Guizhou, Xinjiang, Shanxi, Sichuan, and Jilin, and pig prices fell in 9 provinces including Ningxia, Beijing, Hainan, Shanghai, and Jiangsu. The price in East China was higher at 15.99 yuan/kg, and lower in Northeast China at 14.77 yuan/kg. The national average price of pork was 25.26 yuan/kg, up 0.2% from the previous week and 1.6% year-on-year. Pork prices rose in 16 provinces including Hainan, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang, Shanxi and Beijing, pork prices fell in 10 provinces including Shanghai, Anhui, Fujian, Chongqing and Inner Mongolia, and pork prices in 4 provinces including Tianjin, Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia remained flat. The price in South China was higher at 28.11 yuan/kg, and the price in Northeast China was lower at 21.74 yuan/kg.

Poultry product prices. The national average price of eggs was 9.77 yuan/kg, down 1.1% from the previous week and 15.5% year-on-year. The price of eggs in 10 major producing provinces such as Hebei and Liaoning was 8.09 yuan/kg, down 1.7% from the previous week and 22.8% year-on-year. The national average price of chicken meat was 23.49 yuan/kg, down 0.5% from the previous week and 2.8% year-on-year. The average price of commercial egg chicks was 3.73 yuan/piece, up 0.3% from the previous week and down 5.1% year-on-year. The average price of commercial broiler chicks was 3.50 yuan/piece, down 0.3% from the previous week and 15.3% year-on-year.

Beef and mutton prices. The national average price of beef was 76.43 yuan/kg, down 0.7% from the previous week and 11.7% year-on-year. The price of beef in Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Shandong and Henan provinces was 64.51 yuan/kg, down 1.1% from the previous week. The national average price of mutton was 74.79 yuan/kg, down 0.5% from the previous week and 7.9% year-on-year. The price of mutton in Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan and Xinjiang was 67.63 yuan/kg, down 0.6% from the previous week.

Raw milk prices. The average price of fresh milk in 10 major producing provinces such as Inner Mongolia and Hebei was 3.47 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and 11.9% year-on-year.

Feed prices. The national average price of corn was 2.57 yuan/kg, down 0.4% from the previous week and down 12.6% year-on-year. The price of corn in the three northeastern provinces was 2.35 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week, and the price of corn in Guangdong Province, the main selling area, was 2.68 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal was 3.78 yuan/kg, down 1.0% from the previous week and 13.1% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs was 3.60 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and 6.7% year-on-year. The average price of broiler compound feed was 3.72 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and 5.8% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for laying hens was 3.43 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and 6.0% year-on-year.

This week, the national pig feed price ratio was 4.82, up 0.63% from the previous month. According to the current price and cost, the average profit of the pig breeding head of the future piglet fattening model is 169.49 yuan. This week, pig prices fell from a high level, but the weekly average price rose slightly month-on-month. After the Qingming holiday, the number of breeding units increased slightly, the southern market has a certain pressure on the goods, the price of pigs is under pressure, and the terminal consumption is weak after the holiday, the operating rate of slaughtering enterprises has declined, and the price of pigs has fallen slightly during the week. At present, the enthusiasm for secondary fattening in the north is still high, and it is difficult for pig prices to continue to decline, and it is expected that pig prices will continue to adjust frequently next week, and the supply and demand game is more intense.

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, from April 8 to 14, 2024, the average purchase price of live pigs in designated pig slaughtering enterprises was 16.06 yuan/kg, the same as the previous period and up 3.8% year-on-year, and the average ex-factory price of white meat was 21.02 yuan/kg, the same as the previous period and up 3.1% year-on-year.

Dynamics of domestic and foreign agricultural product markets in the 15th week of 2024 - pork prices rose slightly, eggs and mutton fell slightly

According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in the 15th week of 2024 (April 8-April 14, 2024, the same below), the "200 index of wholesale prices of agricultural products" was 122.58 (100 in 2015), down 0.37 points from the previous week and 2.73 points lower than the same period last year, and the "wholesale price index of 'vegetable basket' products 200" was 123.70 (100 in 2015), down 0.42 points from the previous week and 2.94 points lower than the same period last year.

  1. Pork prices rose slightly, while eggs and mutton fell slightly. The weekly average price of pork wholesale market was 20.54 yuan/kg, up 0.7 percent month-on-month and 5.7 percent higher than the same period last year; beef was 66.56 yuan per kilogram, basically unchanged month-on-month and 13.2 percent lower than the same period last year; mutton was 62.31 yuan per kilogram, down 0.5 percent month-on-month and 8.9 percent lower than the same period last year; and white chicken was 17.45 yuan per kilogram, up 0.2 percent month-on-month and 4.6 percent lower year-on-year. The weekly average price of eggs in the wholesale market was 8.18 yuan per kilogram, down 1.6% month-on-month, a slight decline for four consecutive weeks, and 21.3% lower than the same period last year.

  2. The prices of a variety of aquatic products rose slightly. The weekly average prices of silver carp, carp, crucian carp, grass carp, large yellow croaker and silver carp wholesale markets were 9.53 yuan, 14.90 yuan, 18.50 yuan, 15.37 yuan, 42.17 yuan and 17.59 yuan per kilogram, up 3.3 percent, 1.2 percent, 1.0 percent, 0.8 percent, 0.6 percent and 0.5 percent month-on-month respectively, and 40.21 yuan per kilogram of large hairtail fish, down 1.5 percent month-on-month.

  3. The average price of vegetables was flat and slightly decreased. The weekly average price of 28 kinds of vegetables monitored was 4.95 yuan per kilogram, down 0.2% month-on-month and 0.6% lower than the same period last year. In terms of varieties, the prices of 16 kinds of vegetables fell, 3 kinds remained flat, and 9 kinds increased. Among them, the prices of leeks, zucchini and cucumbers fell by 7.6 percent, 7.0 percent and 6.9 percent respectively month-on-month, and the prices of other varieties fell by less than 5 percent; the prices of lotus root, Chinese cabbage and celery were basically the same month-on-month; the prices of cauliflower, Chinese cabbage and oyster mushrooms increased by 8.1 percent, 7.3 percent and 6.5 percent respectively from the previous month, and the prices of other varieties increased by less than 5 percent.

  4. The average price of fruits fell slightly. The weekly average price of the six kinds of fruits monitored was 7.24 yuan per kilogram, down 1.6% month-on-month and 8.7% lower than the same period last year. In terms of varieties, the weekly average prices of Ya pear, Kyoho grapes, pineapples, Fuji apples and bananas fell by 3.9 percent, 2.9 percent, 1.8 percent, 1.3 percent and 1.1 percent respectively month-on-month, while the prices of watermelons rose by 2.6 percent month-on-month.

Weekly report on the ex-factory price monitoring of lean white pork for the 15th week of 2024

According to the joint monitoring of the Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Shandong Zhuochuang Information Co., Ltd., in the 15th week of 2024 (that is, from April 8 to April 12, 2024, hereinafter referred to as this week), the weekly average of the total ex-factory price index of lean white pork in 16 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government) was 20.08 yuan per kilogram, down 0.7% month-on-month, up 12.1% year-on-year, and 1.8 percentage points higher than last week.

This week, the ex-factory price of lean white pork in China (hereinafter referred to as "pork price") fell slightly month-on-month. At the beginning of the week, free-range farmers and large-scale farms continued the bullish sentiment of last week, and the enthusiasm for slaughter decreased, supporting the slight increase in pig and pork prices. During the week, some of the large-weight pigs (more than 140 kg, the same below) were slaughtered in the early stage, and the supply of pork increased while the consumption was weak, and the price fell. Overall, the weekly average price of white pork was slightly lower than last week.

1. Pork prices in Northeast China fell slightly month-on-month and increased year-on-year

This week, the weekly average price of pork in Northeast China was 18.71 yuan per kilogram, down 0.2% month-on-month and up 10.7% year-on-year, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from last week.

This week, pork prices in the Northeast fell slightly month-on-month. During the week, the pace of slaughter by free-range farmers and large-scale farms was slow, and the supply of pigs decreased. As the weather gets hotter, terminal consumption is becoming weaker, slaughtering companies are reducing orders, and the price competition of white pork in the wholesale market is fierce and the sales speed is slowing down, and some slaughtering companies choose to reduce prices slightly.

2. Pork prices in North China fell slightly month-on-month and expanded year-on-year

This week, the weekly average price of pork in North China was 20.09 yuan per kilogram, down 0.3% month-on-month and up 13.5% year-on-year, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from last week.

This week, pork prices in North China fell slightly month-on-month, showing a trend of rising first and then falling during the week. In the early and middle of this week, large-scale farms were bullish on the market outlook and increased weight, and the tightening of pig supply supported a slight increase in pork prices. In the later part of the week, the weakening of terminal demand, coupled with the increase in the slaughter volume of some large-scale farms, drove the price of pork to stop rising and fall.

3. Pork prices in central China were flat month-on-month and increased year-on-year

This week, the weekly average price of pork in central China was 19.77 yuan per kilogram, flat month-on-month, up 12.9% year-on-year, and an increase of 2.4 percentage points from last week.

This week, pork prices in central China were flat month-on-month, rising first and then falling during the week. In the first half of the week, some free-range farmers and large-scale farms reduced the number of slaughters, and the tightening of the supply of live pigs supported the rise in pork prices. Later in the week, the acceptance of high-priced pork by terminal demand weakened, customer orders decreased, and pork prices stopped rising and fell. Overall, the weekly average price of pork in Sichuan fell slightly month-on-month this week.

This week, the weekly average price of pork in Guangdong was 21.27 yuan per kilogram, down 1.0% month-on-month and up 5.6% year-on-year, narrowing 1.0 percentage points from last week's increase. Free-range farmers in Guangdong maintained a normal slaughter rhythm, and the supply of live pigs was basically stable. Terminal consumption has declined, and the acceptance of high-priced pork is limited, and dealers are more cautious in taking goods. Overall, affected by the decline in demand, the weekly average price of pork in Guangdong fell slightly month-on-month this week.
