I was in a women's prison for more than 9 years, and from 2016 to 2017, the inmates were afraid of something

author:Ah Hai views the world

From 2016 to 2017, I witnessed a big melon: the whole process of commutation and parole policy from loose to strict. It's not a story, it's all real people.

I remember that it was in the second half of 2016, and rumors suddenly began in the prison that there was a big change in the commutation and parole policy, and it would become more and more stringent in the future. As soon as the news came out, the entire prison district exploded. Every day in the labor workshop and in the prison cell, in addition to work, they are chatting, and when the policy changes, everyone is worried about spending several more years in prison.

At that time, the atmosphere in the prison was particularly tense, as if the air had frozen. Everyone is anxious to find some legal advice to see what the new policy is all about. Some people, as soon as they hear the news, panic in their hearts and their emotions fluctuate greatly. Ah, I've heard that some people are starting to give up on themselves.

To be honest, I was quite worried. As soon as this policy changes, won't there be fewer opportunities for commutation and parole? I still remember that at that time, there were several people in our group who were reformed in the same way, and they all had their sentences commuted for more than a year at a time, but now they are no longer available. The same is true for parole, where a sentence of seven years used to be close to two years, but now?

Speaking of the past, the commutation and parole policy is really relaxed. In the past, sitting for more than a year could reduce it by more than a year, and at that time we all thought that going to prison was not so terrible. At that time, there was a person in our prison who had been on parole for more than two years, and now she heard that the new policy is getting stricter and the parole period may be shortened, and she is very worried. There is also a parole king, who was sentenced to 13 years of parole for three and a half years, and his sentence was commuted by more than two years, and now he is worried that his parole will be withdrawn.

I think that at the beginning, the parole king in prison, that was our role model. He was sentenced to 13 years, but he was parole for three and a half years, with his sentence commuted by more than two years. Now, the parole kings are starting to worry about whether their parole will be withdrawn, let alone our little minions. At that time, everyone thought that it was really fast to go to prison, and it was good to have a commutation and parole. Now, I feel like I can't see the date to go home, and I feel like I'm going home farther and farther away.

Speaking of this commutation and parole policy, I am reminded of the previous same reform. He was lucky enough to be released on parole before the new policy was implemented. Now he's free, and we're still here waiting for the new policy to be implemented. Why is the gap between people so big?

During that time, I really lost the confidence and hope of transformation. Every day, I think about how long I will have to go to jail when the new policy comes. I was so depressed that I didn't even want to remodel. Fortunately, the prison administrators have been encouraging us and helping us restore our confidence. I also began to take the initiative to understand the specific content of the new policy and see how to adapt it.

In the process of communicating with other fellow reformers, I also began to reflect on my past and future. I realized that only by actively transforming myself can I better integrate into society and give back to my family and society's expectations. At the same time, I began to look for other ways to get commutation and parole opportunities, such as participating in vocational training and learning cultural knowledge to improve my quality.

There are also a number of activities in the prison to help us adapt to the new policy, such as psychological counselling, legal counselling, etc. Honestly, these activities are really helpful. I also began to participate in these activities together with other colleagues to encourage and support each other and face the difficulties and challenges of the new policy together.

In the face of the challenges of the new policy, I cherish every day in prison even more. I will continue to work hard to reform myself and strive to return to society and my family as soon as possible. At the same time, I also firmly believe that as long as we have firm beliefs, actively face difficulties, and move forward bravely, we will be able to overcome ourselves and move forward to a new life.

Heck, having said all that, the commutation and parole policy is really complicated. However, I believe that as long as everyone faces it positively and works hard to transform themselves, there will always be good results. After all, life is like this, it is always full of unknowns and challenges. But as long as we maintain hope and confidence, we will definitely be able to get out of the predicament and welcome a better future!
