On December 22, 2023, ""Twenty-nine years later, Zhu Ling died of a brain tumor attack in Beijing, when Zhu Ling's father, Wu Chengzhi, said with a sad face in an interview with the media that he had let go.
But just four months after Zhu Ling's death, on April 18, 2024, Zhu Ling's father, Wu Chengzhi, said that they had submitted an "Application for Investigation and Supervision" to the Supreme People's Procuratorate by post, requesting supervision to continue the investigation.
Seeing this news, netizens were very sad and left messages saying: It seems that Zhu Ling's father still hasn't let go of this matter. The daughter who worked hard to raise her finally passed away in this way, and no matter who you are, you will feel sad.
In stark contrast, the other protagonist in this case, Sun, was revealed to own multiple properties in Australia and seemed to be living a good life. So, what is the ins and outs of this matter, and what is the current situation of Sun?
The Zhu Ling case that cannot be forgotten
Thirty years ago, Zhu Ling was in college, her parents were intellectuals, since she was a child, Zhu Ling's academic performance was very good, she could also play the piano, was a second-class swimming athlete in Beijing, her parents said that she was a very sensible child.
Later, Zhu Ling was admitted to Tsinghua University and signed up for a German course, hoping to go to Germany for further study after getting a double degree, and her parents were also very supportive of their daughter's decision.
In fact, Zhu Ling also has an older sister named Wu Jin, who is also a very good girl, and she was admitted to the Department of Biology of Peking University with the top ten grades in Beijing.
But in 1989, Wu Jin and his classmates unfortunately fell off the cliff during a spring outing in Yesanpo, Beijing, and died on the spot.
After Wu Jin's death, the parents grieved for a long time, but fortunately, with the company of their second daughter, they barely recovered from their grief.
And the second daughter Zhu Ling did not live up to their expectations and was admitted to Tsinghua University.
But what people didn't expect was that a long-planned poisoning incident actually took the life of the second daughter. It was September 1994, and Zhu Ling, who was in class, suddenly found that he was blind in his eyes, and he went to the hospital for an examination but did not find out the cause.
Later, she lost her sight again and again. Zhu Ling just thought that he was too tired from studying, so he didn't take it seriously.
Until November 24, 1994, this day was Zhu Ling's 21st birthday, and her father knew that it was his daughter's birthday, so he got up early to celebrate his daughter's birthday.
At this moment, Zhu Ling's stomach suddenly became sharply painful, which frightened the father, and he quickly took his daughter to the hospital for examination, but strangely, this time the doctor still did not detect the cause.
Because he was worried about the exam, Zhu Ling was hurriedly discharged from the hospital and went back to school to review. After returning to school, Zhu Ling's condition worsened again, her hair began to fall out a lot, and her memory was not as good as before.
The father could only send his daughter to the hospital again, but the hospital failed to find the reason, Zhu Ling's illness worsened again, and in the end, Zhu Ling even fell into a coma, and all his hair fell out.
Later, after the diagnosis and discussion of experts, it was determined that Zhu Ling was "thallium poisoning", but the strange thing is that "thallium" is a less common heavy metal that ordinary people cannot access at all.
In the end, the experts narrowed down the scope to the whole of Beijing, among the more than 100 people who had access to thallium, hoping to find clues from it.
At the same time, the experts finally decided to use the "Prussian blue" reagent to save Zhu Ling's life by consulting overseas experts and conducting laboratory tests.
The good news is that Zhu Ling's life was saved, but the bad news is that the delay between poisoning and confirmation of the cause was too long, and Zhu Ling's lower limbs were forced to be paralyzed, and his intelligence was severely damaged.
It stands to reason that there are very few people who can come into contact with thallium, and it should not be difficult to investigate, but the strange thing is that the truth is blocked by a layer of window paper, but for various reasons, it has not been able to be pierced.
Sun lives well in Canada
After Zhu Ling was confirmed to be poisoned with thallium, criminal investigation experts agreed that Zhu Ling was poisoned, after all, there are very few people in Beijing who have access to thallium and have intersections with Zhu Ling.
However, due to the complexity of the case and the influence of some factors, the matter has not been resolved for a long time.
In 2007, "Oriental Time and Space" broadcast the documentary "Zhu Ling's Twelve Years", and in 2013, Zhu Ling's case was pushed forward to investigate again, and later, "People's Daily" spoke, saying: "Disclosure is a good medicine for interpretation."
On December 23, 2023, the Jinan Times published an article questioning the police, the school and the doctor, who seemed to be deliberately avoiding the truth, and once again called for the information to be open and transparent.
The relevant personnel also responded later that the facts of this case are too complicated, because the poison is a kind of substance, there is no speciality, and there is a lack of key evidence.
Therefore, when dealing with such cases, two points are generally followed: first, the case cannot be solved without evidence; second, there is no principle of doubtful guilt.
As for the other protagonist in this case, Sun, at the beginning of this year, an Australian media disclosed her current situation, saying that Sun and her husband now live in a small town in New South Wales, Australia, and she and her husband own many properties in the town.
It is reported that as of April 18, 2024, more than 44,000 people have signed a petition on the global online petition platform, hoping that the Australian government can expel Sun, but the relevant Australian parties have not responded so far.
After the death of their second daughter, Zhu Ling's parents wanted to apply for a larger cemetery in Wan'an Cemetery, where their eldest daughter was buried, but for some reasons, they have not applied so far.
They have prepared for the worst, if they can't apply for a cemetery by the end of this year, then Zhu Ling will be buried with his sister Wu Jin. Finally, I also hope that Zhu Ling's family can wait for the truth, and I believe that this day will not be too far away.
