In the farmland of a group of Li Xingfeng in Gouzhuang Village, Juwan Town, a set of automatic rice seedling raising assembly line machine rumbled, and several villagers worked hard next to the seedling raising machine, and the seedling raising machine quickly spit out a tray of rice seedlings. Li Xingfeng said that he has planted 70 acres of rice, and the seedlings he raises every year are not only used for himself, but also provided to the peasant households in his village, and the seedlings are in short supply.

Li Xingfeng told reporters that he has a lot of farmland and hills, and although there is a reservoir nearby, it is difficult to divert water, and it is labor-intensive and time-consuming. In the past few years, the village has carried out a "drought to water" project, leveling the land, repairing irrigation canals, and even turning the field roads into concrete pavement, which has brought tangible benefits to the local villagers.

It is understood that Gouzhuang Village has implemented the "drought to water" project since 2019, changing the original 2,400 acres of dry land into paddy fields, and in mid-April every year, growers and family farms begin to raise seedlings, with an average net increase of about 800 yuan per mu of farmers. In December 2018, Xiangyang Hanjiang Ecological Economic Belt Investment and Construction Co., Ltd. signed an investment cooperation agreement with the county (city, district) governments along the route to implement a total of 95,800 mu of "drought to water" projects in Zaoyang, Laohekou and Xiangzhou.

The "Drought to Water" project transforms wasteland and dry land into paddy fields through measures such as land leveling, improvement of irrigation and drainage projects, field road projects, and soil improvement, and gradually realizes the refinement and mechanization of ploughing, sowing and harvesting. At the same time, the farming system will be improved, and the "wheat-rice" water-drought rotation will be formed, so as to give full play to the production potential of the land, effectively improve the income level and grain production capacity of the people in the implementation area, and help rural revitalization.
