At the partner conference at the beginning of the year, Changan Automobile revealed that Mazda will have a model codenamed J90A/K that will debut in the second half of the year, and the industry is speculating that this is likely to be the new generation of Mazda6.
Perhaps because it didn't want to miss the biennial Beijing Auto Show, Changan Mazda released the new car information in advance.
So far, Changan Mazda has released a total of three teaser images of its new models. Among them, the first teaser image shows that the new car is a sedan, and the size is likely to be a mid-size car.
The second teaser image shows the new car's taillight style, with a continuous taillight design and a ducktail-like design on the top. It has to be said that this design is very similar to the SL03.
The third teaser image shows the side fender line, which looks full of power. Chrome trim strips can also be seen on the doors.
There is only so much product information about the new car for the time being, and it is known that this new car will be built on the same platform as Changan Deep Blue SL03, and most of the hardware of the vehicle, including the three major pieces, is likely to come from the Deep Blue side.
Deep blue SL03 This model has a very good reputation in the market, with two power modes of extended range and pure electric, and the advantages in fuel economy and performance are relatively obvious.
Mazda is still responsible for the exterior design and chassis tuning. Although the similarities with the SL03 can be found in the teaser images, it is believed that Mazda will make adjustments to the body shape and sheet metal to make it look like it has its own design features.
And handling is also the soul of Mazda, and there are engineers who personally go down to tune it, at least at the level of driving fun, it can ensure Mazda's consistently excellent performance.
As for the powertrain, it is expected that the new car will be powered by a plug-in gasoline electric PHEV, and the possibility of an electric EV is not ruled out. The system is very likely to be developed by Chang'an, after all, Chang'an's existing plug-in hybrid, range extension, and pure electric technologies have done a good job.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that as early as February 2024, Mazda has applied for two trademarks in advance in China, namely "EZ-6" and "EZ-60", and referring to the current naming method of Mazda's products, this sedan will most likely be named "EZ-6" in the future.

According to the latest retail data, in the first quarter of this year, Changan Mazda's cumulative sales were only 19,296 units, of which the highest-selling model was Mazda3 Ankesaila, which was only 10,644 units, followed by Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-50 lines, with 6,672 and 1,730 units respectively.
Judging from the current market performance, Changan Mazda urgently needs a popular model to save the decline in sales, and the upcoming new car may be to take on this important task.
