In 1779, Wen Shou, the governor of Sichuan, submitted a case file to the Criminal Department. After reading it, the officials of the Criminal Department also felt that it was very difficult to deal with it, so they simply handed it over to Qianlong and waited for him to send it out.
The case occurred in Mianyang, Sichuan, and the murderer was 9-year-old Liu Xuanzi. He not only robbed his good friend Li Zixiang of the same age of food, but also beat Li Zixiang to death on the spot.
At the time of the crime, Li Zixiang took his sister Li Run to herd sheep on the hillside. Among them, Liu Jizi is naturally indispensable.
The sun was about to set, and all three children had obvious hunger pangs. This question can't help but be difficult for Li Zixiang. He quickly rushed to his field to pick a large number of broad beans and started a wild barbecue.
As a result, Liu Zhizi ate up his share, and then asked Li Zixiang for it. Li Zixiang and his sister hadn't eaten well yet, so they naturally disagreed, and hurriedly waved their hands to refuse.
It was this very normal behavior that angered Liu Zhizi. Annoyed and angry, he relied on his big stature and strength to start beating Li Zixiang.
Without any accidents, the weak Li Zixiang was quickly knocked to the ground by him. Coincidentally, a hard stone pierced Li Zixiang's waist. The blood flowed, the pain was unbearable, and he cried loudly.
Things have come to this point, and Liu Jizi still refuses to give up. even ignored Li Zixiang's sister Li Run's pleas, and attacked Li Zixiang even more viciously. Slowly, Li Zixiang lost his breath of life.
When the county magistrate arrested Liu Suizi in court, he said nonchalantly, I am only 9 years old this year, and my father has told me that according to the laws of the Qing Dynasty, you can't punish me.
The county magistrate was very angry, this was clearly a little hooligan. However, he was right, according to the laws of the Qing Dynasty, the magistrate could not call the shots when a child under the age of 10 killed.
As a last resort, the county order could only be reported to the prefect, and the prefect also felt that it was tricky, so he reported it to the criminal department. The criminal department also had a headache, so it was reported to Qianlong for decision.
Qianlong was also very angry at Liu Xuanzi's evil deeds, and decided to execute Liu Xuanzi in his heart. However, in order to avoid being arbitrary, he still chose to listen to the advice of the ministers in the court.
Wen Shou, the governor of Sichuan, believes that the case was manslaughter rather than murder, and that the fatal stone is not considered a murder weapon. In addition, Liu Yanzi is less than ten years old, and it is extenuating that he should be punished lightly, and the crime will not lead to death.
In order to support his statement, he also deliberately mentioned that in the tenth year of Yongzheng, the sixteen-year-old Ding paparazzi bullied the thirteen-year-old Ding Qisan, and finally the three children of Ding Qisan beat the Ding paparazzi to death with clods of soil. Yongzheng specially approved, and was spared death.
Qianlong was naturally dissatisfied with such an answer. Because before this, he noticed Yongzheng's special approval and seriously compared the two cases.
is also a minor murder, Liu Zhizi case, the dead Li Zixiang is very innocent, and the deceased in Ding Qisan's case was deliberately picking quarrels and provoking trouble, and the blame for being beaten to death was self-inflicted.
Hu Jitang, the servant of the Criminal Department, replied after careful consideration, although Liu Jizi was young, he was cruel, arrogant, and vicious. If the net is opened, it will encourage the wind of evil. Therefore, heavy sentences should be imposed as an example.
So, Qianlong put forward a written instruction and hanged Liu Zhizi according to the law. Liu was sentenced to hang in prison (suspended death) and executed after the autumn.
On the day Liu Zizi was beheaded, the bleak autumn wind blew wildly, as if expressing Li Zixiang's crying and anger. Liu Zhizi, who was unwilling, struggled hard, but was soon sent to the guillotine.
This verdict caused a great sensation among the people, and the common people applauded, and also won Qianlong a better reputation.
Later, this case was recorded in the "Compilation of Rejected Cases" of Quan Shichao in the Qing Dynasty, which has been passed down to this day.
