On Wednesday, the Italian Arbitration Commission announced that Juventus had been awarded 9.77 million euros to Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as interest for the period of arrears.
In April 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, Juventus wanted players to take a pay cut. At that time, Ronaldo first reached an agreement with the club, however, many Juventus players, including Ronaldo, did not really reduce their salaries, but postponed the payment of this part of their annual salary after signing an agreement with the club.
On March 23, 2022, the Italian police seized a secret agreement between Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo during an investigation into fake accounts, which was signed by Palladici, who was then Juventus' general manager. Although the first line of this agreement reads "Honorable Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro", Ronaldo will not be banned due to the absence of Ronaldo's signature.
After leaving Juventus, Ronaldo began to appeal to the arbitration committee, demanding that Juve pay the 19.5 million euros in arrears. Cristiano Ronaldo's side believes that he deserves the salary under the second salary adjustment agreement signed with the club. However, Juventus always believed that the club would win the case and therefore did not set aside funds in the budget.
In the end, the arbitration committee found that both parties were at fault and ordered Juventus to pay Ronaldo 9.77 million euros plus interest.
