On April 16, Guangzhou's 2024 UAV afforestation application site observation meeting was held in Huadu District, actively exploring the development path of new quality productivity in the forestry industry, using drones to help improve afforestation and greening efficiency, and further creating a new situation in Guangzhou's forestry development. At the observation meeting, Huadu District and Conghua District respectively introduced the application of drones in mountain afforestation, and demonstrated the transportation of seedlings and fertilizers by drones.
Since the launch of Lumei Guangdong, Huadu District has boldly explored and innovated in the improvement of Lumei construction productivity. So far, a total of 3,000 UAVs have been used, carrying 370 tons of various production materials and 68,000 saplings. A total of 558,000 yuan of labor costs are saved, which is more than 50% less than the cost of traditional human transportation. In the past two years, Huadu District plans to improve the quality of 85,000 mu, including 49,000 mu of coniferous forest, 4,800 mu of eucalyptus forest, and 3,700 mu of residual forest. At present, an area of 42,000 acres has been completed.
Wang Dong, deputy director of the Huadu District Bureau of the Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, said that compared with traditional human transportation, drones have the advantages of saving time, manpower, economic costs, and reducing human risks. It can save 50% of the cost and improve the ergonomics by about 18 times.
Cai Sheng, director of the Guangzhou Forestry and Garden Bureau, said that since the beginning of spring, the forestry authorities in various districts and the municipal forest farms have made sufficient preparations, and the progress of afforestation in spring has been significantly improved compared with the same period last year. As of April 12, the city has completed 118,900 acres of forest quality optimization and improvement tasks.
Huadu District has made relatively fast progress in afforestation and forest tending, thanks to the application of drones. He pointed out that the organization of this UAV afforestation application site observation meeting is to let everyone see and feel the operation efficiency and operation effect of advanced machinery and equipment. All districts and forest farms should strengthen communication with the city's technical support team, implement the normalized hanging point guidance system, strengthen the on-site guidance and supervision and technical training of afforestation, and pay close attention to planting seedlings scientifically and safely, and manage and protect them well. It is necessary to strengthen scientific and technological support, scientifically select tree species, select excellent native broad-leaved tree species, precious tree species and economic tree species according to local conditions, and continuously improve the quality and level of afforestation.
