According to Apple's official change log, as well as Xiaoguo's actual experience, iOS 17.5 Beta 2 still brings some new changes.

The first is that Apple has opened up the ability for users in the European Union to download apps from the web.

At the same time, Apple imposes restrictions on this operation, and developers need to meet certain conditions if they want to distribute their apps through their websites.

This includes participating in Apple's Developer Program for more than 2 years, and apps published in the EU with more than 1 million first-time installs.

For developers who meet the conditions, Apple will also provide corresponding APIs to help them set up app distribution websites.

The second is a wave of optimizations to the podcast app, mainly focused on podcast widgets.

After upgrading to iOS 17.5 Beta 2, podcast widgets automatically switch background colors based on what's currently playing.

The color scheme depends on the topic cover content of the current podcast.

This should be a good optimization change for podcast users.

iOS 17.5 update, bringing a wave of new features

In addition to the new features that have already been launched, Apple expects to bring more new changes in iOS 17.5.

From previous developers' code mining for the iOS 17.5 beta version, we have found a number of new features that are expected to be available in the future.

For example, it can prevent others from using tracking devices such as AirTags to maliciously track users.

As described in the code string, users can manually disable a tracking device that is not recognized by Find My when the system detects a nearby tracking device that is not recognized by Find My.

If nothing else, this feature is expected to be available in a subsequent iOS 17.5 update, which is expected to curb malicious stalking.

Then there's the quick battery health lookup feature, which is expected to be available on the iPad.

It's one of the features that iPad products have been missing for years, and it's expected to be available in the iPadOS 17.5 beta at a later date.

Finally, Apple also recently closed the signing channel for the official version of iOS 16.7.6, which means that users who have upgraded to iOS 16.7.7 cannot downgrade.

Combined with previous revelations, Apple is expected to release a new iPad and a batch of new products in May, when the official version of iOS / iPadOS 17.5 will also be released.

That's it for Apple's latest software updates.
