On April 17, Beijing time, Changchun Yatai Club of the Chinese Super League officially announced that it accepted the resignation of head coach Chen Yang and his coaching team. From now on, Chen Yang will no longer serve as the head coach of Changchun Yatai team.
Yatai Club affirmed Chen Yang's efforts and achievements during his coaching of the team, and thanked him for his contribution to the construction of the club. I wish him and his team all the best in their future work and life. Chen Yang also became the first coach to leave class in the Chinese Super League this season.
Chen Yang, 47, has previously coached the U22 national football team, Wuhan Zall, Liaoning Hongyun, and Inner Mongolia Zhongyou. On October 5, 2020, Chen Yang officially coached Yatai Club, and that season, he led Yatai to win the championship of the Chinese League and successfully returned to the Chinese Super League. During his three and a half years in charge of Yatai, Chen Yang led the team to participate in more than 100 matches in the Chinese League, Chinese Super League and FA Cup.
In 2021, Chen Yang led the Yatai team to win the 4th place in the Chinese Super League. Unfortunately, Chen Yang led the team to a poor record this season, and in the first 6 rounds, Yatai only accumulated 3 points with 1 win and 5 losses and ranked at the bottom of the standings. After being reversed 1-2 by Chengdu Rongcheng in the last round of the league, Yatai suffered 4 consecutive defeats in the league and 5 consecutive defeats at home. Because of the team's poor results, Yatai finally chose to part ways with Chen Yang.
