In the first quarter of this year, the grassland railway sent a total of 9.28 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 44.3% over 2023.
According to the data, the growth of passenger flow in the first quarter was mainly concentrated in the intercity passenger flow in the tube and the passenger flow into Beijing from the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia. In order to meet the travel needs of passengers, the grassland railway follows the train operation strategy of "midweek + weekend + peak", and adds EMU trains, intercity trains and temporary passenger trains in a timely manner according to the passenger flow situation to cope with the peak travel in the tube. At the same time, it also fully utilizes the capacity of the Beijing-chartered high-speed railway, and realizes 45 pairs of high-speed rail and EMU trains per day during peak hours such as the Spring Festival and New Year's Day holidays.
In order to meet the diversified travel needs of passengers, the grassland railway resumed the operation of 4652/1 international trains between Hohhot and Ulaanbaatar on March 15, 4 pairs of temporary passenger trains from Baotou to Hangzhou, Baotou to Shenzhen East and Baotou to Datong from March 6, K4971/2 temporary passenger trains from Hohhot to Yinchuan from March 12, and K4599/8/9 and K4600/597/600 direct passenger trains between Hohhot and Guangzhou from March 17.
In addition, in the first quarter, the grassland railway also ran two long-distance tourist trains running through the north and south of the country, involving Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao and other well-known tourist destinations, which were well received by tourists.
