On April 16, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province publicly pronounced a verdict on the case of accepting bribes and money laundering by Zhang Fujie, a former first-level inspector of the Guizhou Provincial Forestry Bureau, and sentenced the defendant Zhang Fujie to seven years and three months in prison and a fine of RMB 900,000 for accepting bribes, and sentenced him to nine months in prison and a fine of RMB 100,000 for money laundering, and decided to enforce the sentence of seven years and six months imprisonment and a fine of RMB 1 million;
After trial, it was ascertained that from 2006 to 2023, the defendant Zhang Fujie took advantage of his position as deputy secretary and acting county magistrate of Pingba County, secretary of the Pingba County Party Committee and county magistrate, member of the party group and deputy mayor of Anshun Municipal Government, member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of Guizhou Gui'an New District, member of the party group and deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Forestry Bureau, and other positions, as well as the facilitation of the formation of authority or status, to provide relevant individuals with advantages in project contracting, project fund allocation, provided assistance in matters such as coal mine production and operation, and illegally accepted more than 10.11 million yuan of property from others. In June 2019, in order to cover up and conceal the source and nature of the criminal proceeds of bribery, Zhang Fujie transferred the bribe money of 1 million yuan to another person's account in the form of a fictitious loan relationship.
The Intermediate People's Court of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture held that the defendant Zhang Fujie's conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes and money laundering, and that the amount of bribes accepted was particularly huge and should be punished in accordance with law. In view of the fact that Zhang Fujie voluntarily surrendered and truthfully confessed his crimes, constituting voluntary surrender, admitting guilt and accepting punishment, and that all the criminal proceeds have been returned to the case, and there are statutory and discretionary mitigating and mitigating circumstances, the punishment for the crime of accepting bribes is commuted and the punishment for the crime of money laundering is mitigated. The Court accordingly rendered the judgment.
