Different from the seriousness of many clinics, Lao Yanagi's clinic is always full of joyful atmosphere.

Lao Liu is a village doctor named Liu Zuxin in Lianziya Village, Zigui County, Yichang City, Hubei Province. Not only local residents, but also many patients from neighboring towns came to him for treatment. Because Lao Liu has passed the retirement age, the Lianziya Village Health Center is considering equipping the village with a reserve force. But after many villagers learned the news, they petitioned the hospital to let Lao Liu stay.

The office becomes the patient's home

Serving the surrounding villagers for nearly 50 years, Lao Liu is not only the gatekeeper of everyone's health, but also like a relative. When the villagers come to the clinic to see a doctor, it is not like going to the clinic, but more like going to home, and the patients will help guide each other, make tea, and chat.

"He is known for his good attitude!" said Aunt Li from Lianziya Village, describing Lao Liu. Most of the permanent residents in the village are old and weak women and children, and everyone will ask Lao Liu to help them see if they feel unwell, and they will do everything with acupuncture and massage. Some elderly people have poor hearing and eyesight, and Lao Liu will take the trouble to ask for a doctor, mark the use of drugs in large characters, and repeatedly advise. He also "lied" to the patient's family about paying the medicine in advance.

It was in 2003, when a patient was being treated in a health center because he was unwell, and he asked Lao Liu to help pay more than 2,000 yuan in medical expenses. Later, the patient died due to an accident, and there was only one old father left in the family, and the old man talked about trying his best to help his son pay back the medical bills, but Lao Liu told him that his son had paid off these expenses before, and told the old man to take good care of his body.

In addition to the heartwarming stories with the patients, the stories of Lao Liu's family also moved the villagers. For so many years, there will always be a "follower" outside Lao Liu's clinic, and this special companion is Lao Liu's youngest son, Xiao Yanagi. Decades ago, Koyanagi, who had just turned 2 years old, suddenly had a high fever, when the transportation in the mountains was inconvenient, the pediatricians were scarce, and the treatment conditions were limited. For this reason, Lao Liu, who has been researching chronic diseases, has devoted himself to learning pediatric medical technology, hoping to recover his son on the one hand, and prevent other children in the village from repeating the mistakes of the past.

Once, in the middle of a cold winter night, Lao Liu, who had fallen asleep, was woken up by a quick knock on the door. He opened the door and saw a couple holding their child, eager for help. Seeing this child, Lao Liu seemed to see his youngest son who had a fever at the beginning. He didn't have time to change clothes, so he hurriedly diagnosed and treated the child, and after working for a long time, the child's fever subsided, and the parents' mood stabilized. Because he was worried that the child's condition would recur, Lao Liu stayed by the child's side until dawn.

There are more "follower doctors" around me

"Doctor Liu, my son will call you grandpa in the future!" Ms. Huang and her husband from Xiakou Town, Xingshan County, Hubei Province, have been married for many years and have not succeeded in conceiving a baby. They heard that Lao Liu was quite experienced in treating infertility, so they drove to him to have a look. Through TCM syndrome differentiation therapy, Lao Liu prescribes the right medicine, and through a combination of psychology, medicine and TCM physiotherapy, Ms. Huang and her husband finally successfully conceived the next generation and gave birth smoothly. The young couple was very happy and insisted on inviting Lao Liu to his hometown to play for a few days, so that the child would recognize him as a grandfather.

Lao Liu said that young people now have a lot of work pressure and an unhealthy lifestyle. He is well aware of how important a healthy child is to a family, and he also knows the importance of improving the quality of the population to the development of the country, so he spares no effort to carry out science popularization and education for the villagers.

"As long as the policy allows and my body allows, I am willing to serve the villagers all the time. Lao Liu said that he and his colleagues at the health center were very touched by the villagers' retention, and the health center also decided to ask him to stay in the village and add a young village doctor to assist in public health services and follow-up. Now, Lao Liu has an "attendant doctor" by his side, and he feels more hopeful for the future: "Now the medical conditions in the village are getting better and better, and we are becoming more and more confident." ”
