According to the Information Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, April 15 is the "National Security Education Day". The Commission for Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will hold the opening ceremony of the "National Security Education Day" at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on the morning of the 15th.
Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, will lead all members of the leadership team of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office to attend the meeting via video link in Beijing. John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, warmly welcomed this. Mr Lee said that this year's National Security Education Day is of great significance to Hong Kong. This year marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's "Overall National Security Concept", and it is also the first "National Security Education Day" after the completion of Article 23 of the Basic Law and the entry into force of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
Mr Lee stressed that in today's complex and volatile world, national security risks and threats can emerge suddenly, persistently and lattently, and the public must remain vigilant. The Ordinance on Safeguarding National Security requires the HKSAR Government to carry out national security education and law-abiding awareness education, and to do so through publicity, guidance, supervision and management. The National Security Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) organised the "National Security Education Day" to enhance the awareness and sense of responsibility of the Hong Kong public in safeguarding national security and remind them to stay vigilant against national security risks.
In support of the National Security Education Day, various activities were also organised in Hong Kong. On the 14th, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (FSD) held an Open Day of the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy to demonstrate fire fighting, high-altitude rescue, rapids rescue and disaster response.

The HKSAR Government also strongly condemns these political manipulations to spread fear by distorting facts and making alarmist remarks. The spokesman reiterated that the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance are laws to defend against external forces endangering our national security, and to strengthen the locks on our homeland. The HKSAR Government strongly urges the countries concerned to stop attempting to interfere in Hong Kong's efforts to safeguard national security in accordance with the law by using political tactics such as the so-called update of outbound travel alerts.
