The renovated T2 terminal is divided into one underground floor and two floors above ground (some four-storey) structure, adopting the mode of passenger entry and exit diversion, which is currently the largest terminal renovation project in China.
Walking into the terminal, a cultural wall with the elements of Wuhan's "Yellow Crane Tower" and Hubei's "Three Gorges Dam" comes into view. These huge scrolls created by the masters of the Academy of Fine Arts are presented using advanced "digital printing technology", integrating regional culture into artistic expression and highlighting the magnificent urban cultural characteristics of Wuhan.
Upgraded functions across the board
The renovated T2 terminal has realized the upgrading and optimization of the whole line of passenger entry and exit, transit services, baggage and cargo, etc., and can realize the "immediate handling, immediate entrustment, immediate inspection, and immediate delivery results" of passengers.
With the addition of 12 smart systems and 112 sets of self-service equipment, the coverage rate of self-service equipment at the airport has reached 80%, and passengers can enter the security screening waiting area by placing their ID cards, passports or boarding passes on the card reader at the pre-screening gate.
In particular, the black technology of "human bag binding" is introduced, which can realize the binding of passenger information and passenger items with the help of face recognition, and realize synchronous inspection, which not only improves the safety of baggage security check, but also realizes the traceability of item inspection.
The new T2 terminal will mainly serve domestic routes, while T3 will serve all international and regional flights to and from Wuhan and some domestic flights, among which the areas before and after the security check in T2 can be connected to T3.
Business blockbuster new
T2 and the world's largest travel commercial operator, the world's largest duty-free retailer giant Avolta Group (formerly Dufurui Group), jointly build and operate a 19,000-square-meter commercial area, which is the first of its kind in the global strategic layout of the national civil aviation and Avolta Group.
The commercial area covers three mainstream formats: retail, catering, leisure and entertainment. High-quality brands such as Mango Tree, the first Michelin-starred restaurant in the world's airports, and Agatha, the first store in the world's new airport concept design, will soon settle in, opening up the "global chain" of world commodity circulation and high-quality service standards, and bringing a new on-the-go shopping experience to passengers. The two sides will join forces to promote the high-quality development of the airport economy, promote the integrated development of Huangpi's "port-industry city", and serve the high-level opening up of the province and the city.
In addition, there are a number of online celebrity check-in points in the terminal, the most eye-catching of which is the country's first observation deck in the terminal. Passengers can sit on the 6th floor of the landscape staircase, watch the take-off and landing of the aircraft up close through the glass curtain wall, and feel the shock and romance of the aircraft crossing the sky.
At present, the T2 terminal of Wuhan Tianhe Airport is undergoing a series of preparations such as pre-operation pressure tests, and all kinds of facilities and equipment are being debugged in an orderly manner to ensure the smooth operation on April 15.
With the opening of the T2 terminal, the annual passenger capacity of Wuhan Airport will increase to 50 million passengers, entering the era of dual-terminal operation, which will further improve the construction level of Tianhe Airport as a "four-type airport" and help Huangpi become the largest international hub gateway in the central region.
