On April 12, the dock door of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, was opened, marking the 100th batch of undocking nodes of another dock of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. On the same day, the seventh 7000TEU container ship H1568 built by the company in Dock 2 for Canadian Seaspan was successfully undocked. This is the 24th ship of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding since the first ship of 34 7000TEU container ships was undocked in March 2023, reaching an average of 2 ships per month, which not only demonstrates the amazing "Waigaoqiao shipbuilding speed", but also lays the leading position of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding in the field of medium-sized container ships in one fell swoop, and vividly interprets the scientific connotation and specific practice of China's shipbuilding industry in the new era to implement the new development concept. Under the multiple challenges of the H1568 ship such as the Spring Festival holiday, cold wave, and rainy days, the project team optimized the preparation and promotion of the implementation of the special production plan through innovative planning, on the basis of summarizing the experience of series ship construction, combined with the construction characteristics of the whole ship in No. 2 dock, and successfully created a new record of 66 days for the actual construction period of the 7000TEU container ship dock of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.

The undocking status of the H1568 ship has also been steadily improved compared with the series of ships: in terms of structure and coating, 100% of the cargo hold test box inspection has been completed, all oil tank strength test reports have been passed, the four walls of the cargo hold have been painted, and the specially coated cabins such as urea tank and fresh water tank have also been painted in the dock for the first time. In terms of mechanical completion and commissioning, the emergency generator completed the EMU, the AMS monitoring and alarm was opened, and the engine room fan was run ahead of schedule, which laid a solid foundation for the rapid development of the wharf mooring test.

On the other side of the No. 2 dock, the FPSO project built at the same time achieved the second floating, creating good conditions for the second domestic large cruise ship to be undocked.

Adapting to the needs of two transformations

As a "personal experience" who has witnessed the high-quality development of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for more than 20 years, No. 2 Dock can be described as a great achievement, and in order to meet the development needs of different periods, it has undergone two lengthening transformations. In June 2008, in order to adapt to the more efficient construction process of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and meet the needs of VLCC and FPSO semi-tandem construction, Dock 2 was expanded from the initial 360 meters long to 540 meters, and in 2011, two independent dock rooms were formed by adding intermediate dock doors. In June 2020, in order to ensure the construction of the first domestically produced large cruise ship, which lasted 20 months, the No. 2 dock of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding was renovated again, with a length of 200 meters from the original 540 meters to the landside, with a total length of 740 meters, an area equivalent to 7 standard football fields, which can meet the requirements of 1.5 large cruise ships and 3 VLCCs per year. Since then, Dock 2 has grown into the longest dock in Asia.

So far, Dock 2 has given birth to a total of 110 ships (seats) of different types of products, which has completely witnessed the high-quality and rapid development of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and even China's shipbuilding industry, covering 7 FPSOs, 8 jack-up drilling platforms, 6 7,000TEU container ships, 1 18,000TEU container ship, 22 bulk carriers, 7 ultra-large ore carriers, 7 product tankers, 51 crude oil tankers and 1 large cruise ship. Among them, in addition to the first domestically produced large cruise ship "Aida Modu" that caused a global sensation last year, it also includes China's first 300,000-ton FPSO "Offshore Oil 117", the world's first 400,000-ton intelligent ultra-large ore ship "Mingyuan", China's first ultra-large 18,000TEU container ship "CMA CGM Vasco da Gama", and the world's original 2.3 million barrels of general-purpose FPSO.

Especially in the last week, the No. 1 dock and No. 2 dock have successively realized the undocking and undocking of 7000TEU container ships, and the 7000TEU container ships at the terminal have also presented a gratifying scene of going to sea for trial and waiting for delivery one after another, which fully demonstrates the company's resolute promotion of the outfitting process such as cabin tightness and pipe system tightness, the boring of the platform in the general section, the loading of half ships and other efficient construction methods and the "three cancellations" and "four clearances" With the remarkable results achieved by management methods, the company's shipbuilding business has entered the fast lane of high-quality and steady development!
