Toutiao used to be a popular self-media platform for readers and authors, but now Toutiao has all kinds of chaos. For example, the party with empty headlines that is inappropriate and incorrect; fake news is flying all over the sky; articles and videos that have been carefully packaged and appear in obscure forms such as pornography, violence, and low-grade taste; text garbage with confusing logic and full of typos; contents that ignore the brilliant achievements made by the people of all ethnic groups throughout the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the decades since the founding of the People's Republic of China in unremitting pursuit and arduous struggle that have attracted global attention, exaggerate the problems existing in reality, smear China, and incite social dissatisfaction and bring chaos to the country and the people; and so on.
These questions were strongly opposed and resisted by a wide range of readers, and many people left the headlines while criticizing them.
In response to the above problems, the Toutiao platform is not completely laissez-faire, and has also carried out some governance actions, but the effect is not obvious and cannot satisfy users. The main reason for this is that manual review is not in place.
The first level of headline content review is often handed over to intelligent robots, and the robots mainly detect whether there are sensitive words, and the content carefully disguised by the concoctor is easy to be confused, and some low-quality "harmless" (the "harmless" here refers to the text garbage and low-quality videos that do not violate the country's laws, regulations and major policies, but cannot provide readers with the valuable information they need) will also be put in. Headlines often intervene manually when a large number of negative comments appear after a certain content is published or reported by readers, which is a passive response to make up for the loss. If the entrance is not strict, all kinds of chaos will emerge in an endless stream.
Healthy content, readers, and authors are the three pillars of Toutiao's development. Without healthy content, it can lead to a large loss of readers, and if positive and healthy content is not well recommended, it will drive some high-level authors away from the headlines. With these three pillars gone, is there a future for Toutiao?
The key to solving the problem is to strengthen manual review. You can't leave the first level of auditing to a machine, and it's not up to the task. The first level of the audit must be handled by a human being.
First, the Toutiao platform should expand its team of professional editors and reviewers, and if necessary, it can hire part-time personnel from the society.
Second, a strict responsibility system is implemented for editorial reviewers, that is, whoever passes the review is responsible for the content. The review should mainly do a good job in political, legal, academic, ideological and moral, language and writing, etc. Regardless of the click-through rate, we will give support for the weighted recommendation of high-quality content, and assume the responsibility of disseminating advanced culture; we will resolutely reject erroneous, harmful, and inferior content, and we will rather lack it than use it. Reward outstanding editors and reviewers; give warnings and punishments to editors and reviewers who make major mistakes in their work; and editors and reviewers who have been brainwashed or instigated rebellion by foreign anti-China forces, infiltrated the platform in disguise, and deliberately allowed content that harms the country and the people have been verified and will be severely dealt with.
If these two measures are put in place, why is the headline chaos in place?
