The cold air has set off and will affect most of the northern region from west to east until the beginning of next week, bringing windy sand, precipitation, cooling, strong convection and other weather.
Wind and dust
The arrival of cold air has brought sand and dust weather to northern Xinjiang, central and western Inner Mongolia, western and northern Gansu and other places today, and PM10 concentrations have increased significantly.
As the cold air moves eastward, the dust area will also spread eastward, and the Central Meteorological Observatory continues to issue a blue warning for sand and dust tonight. It is expected that from tonight to tomorrow, there will be sand or floating dust weather in parts of southern Xinjiang and the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains, the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia, the central and western parts of Gansu, most of Ningxia, the northern part of Shaanxi, the northern part of Shanxi, and the western part of Jilin, among which there will be local sandstorms in the southern part of Xinjiang and the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia.
Lowering temperature
When cold air arrives, it will inevitably cool down. Today, the temperature drops are more obvious in northern Xinjiang and western Inner Mongolia. For example, in Urumqi, the maximum temperature exceeded 20 °C yesterday, and it was only about 8 °C this afternoon.
In the next three days, the cold air will gradually bring cooling to other parts of the north, among which, the central part of Inner Mongolia, northern Hebei, Liaoning, and some parts of Jilin will cool by more than 10°C. The cooling in the south will be concentrated on the 16th.
However, even if there is a cooling, the temperature will remain slightly higher than normal for the same time of year, and will warm up soon.
For example, the maximum temperature in Beijing will drop to 20°C tomorrow, and the temperature will immediately rebound the day after tomorrow, and then return to above 25°C.
For many places in the south, before the arrival of cooling, the strong warm and humid airflow will bring rapid heating, and the maximum temperature in the eastern part of Jianghan, Jiangnan, South China, and Southwest China will generally reach about 30 °C, and there will be high temperatures locally. The arrival of cold air only slightly lowered the temperature to around 25°C.
Rainfall + strong convection
From now to the day after tomorrow, there will be moderate to heavy rain in parts of the eastern part of Northwest China, North China, and the southern part of Northeast China, and some areas will also be accompanied by strong convective weather.
At the same time, the rain continues in the south. From tonight to tomorrow, there will be heavy rain in parts of northern Jiangxi, northwest Fujian, southern and northeastern Zhejiang, southeastern Shanxi, and northwest Henan, among them, there will be heavy rain in parts of northeast Jiangxi and southwestern Zhejiang.
From the 15th to the 17th, there will be a new round of rainfall on the line, with moderate to heavy rain in Jiangnan, South China, the eastern part of the Sichuan Basin, and the central and eastern parts of Guizhou, accompanied by short-term heavy precipitation, thunderstorms, strong winds or hail and other strong convective weather.
Remind friends in the Jiangnan area that there is almost no break between the two rounds of precipitation, and the rainy state may continue until late April, so everyone should pay attention to precautions.
