Recently, an accidental car accident in Pucheng plunged 6-year-old Peng Peng (pseudonym) into great pain. The car accident not only took away his dearest grandmother, but also severely traumatized his calf. At the scene of the car accident, Peng Peng's right calf bone, muscle, and vascular nerve were completely severed, and there were multiple contusions, and only about 5cm of epidermis was connected to the severed limb.
The local hospital bandaged, stopped the bleeding, and immobilized the child, but the medical resources were limited and the next step of treatment was not possible. Peng Peng is in critical condition and will face the risk of amputation if he delays too long. With the assistance of the hospitals in both places, the child soon came to the orthopedic department of the 986th Hospital of the Air Force for treatment.
After learning of Peng Peng's condition, the attending physicians Zhao Chile and Liu Xitong, the doctors on duty in the second ward of the orthopedic department (hand and foot surgery) of 986 Hospital, urgently contacted the emergency department, anesthesiology department and other relevant departments, and launched a "rescue operation" in which every second counts.
Dr. Shao Zebin in the emergency department completed the preoperative examination in the shortest possible time. In less than 30 minutes, the family signed and completed, the team of attending physician Sun Ying of the anesthesiology department was ready, and Peng Peng successfully entered the operating room.
The operation was co-operated by Zhao Chile and Liu Xitong. In order to maximize the function of the child's legs, the fracture is first reduced and fixed with an external fixator, and then the anterior and posterior tibial arteries, veins, and nerves are anastomosed one by one to repair the damaged musculature. Gradually, the color of the child's toes regained their rosiness and the dorsalis pedis artery began to pulsate. After 4 hours, the operation was successful! Peng Peng's limbs were temporarily preserved and he was ready to undergo the next operation.
During the 10 days of hospitalization, under the careful care of head nurse Liu Cuiping and nurse Wang Yan, Peng Peng's limbs were ruddy, the wound showed no signs of infection, and the avulsion skin basically survived, indicating that he had successfully overcome many difficulties such as infection and vascular danger.
At present, Peng Peng has recovered and been discharged from the hospital, and after the wound condition is stabilized, he will receive treatment and rehabilitation training such as residual wound skin grafting to repair the residual wound of the lower leg and restore more leg function. Before the child was discharged from the hospital, the family expressed their gratitude for sending a pennant to the hospital.
