Shanghai, 1943. A high-profile scandal is gradually spreading: the last private letters of the recently deceased novelist Kim Hae-myung and the female writer Xia Guang are about to be published. The publisher, Li Ling, is currently being detained in the detention center of the Japanese gendarmerie because of his involvement in the editorial work of the magazine Chaohua. Zheng Weilan, who admired Jin Haiming very much, found Li Ling. In order to witness this "fan letter", Wei Lan and Li Ling began to slowly recall the mysterious past of "Xia Guang......

Since its premiere in 2022, the Chinese version of the musical "Fan Letters" has been opened in more than 20 cities across the country, and more than 80,000 people have seen the light of the muse. This "mysterious letter" from the last century always evokes our curiosity about the smell of grass and trees in the valley, the growth of new leaves, the cry of cuckoos, and the youth that is about to wave goodbye. This August, the editorial office of Chaohua will also return to Beijing to tell the moving story of love and hope in the turbulent times.

As an important work in the history of Korean original musicals, the original version of the musical "Fan Letter" won the first prize in the 2016 Korean original musical competition "Glocal Musical Live", and firmly ranked first in the selection of major musicals. The Chinese version of the musical "Fan Letters" localizes the background and characters of the original story, setting the story in Shanghai in the 1940s, and tells the pursuit of literature and art and the expectation of love by a generation of young Chinese talents, so as to gain insight into the emotional world of the people in the era.

As a work with strong literary characteristics, every detail of the Chinese version of the musical "Fan Letter" tries to restore the literary style of Shanghai in the 1940s with as realistic strokes as possible, and at the same time, no matter what kind of personality characteristics the characters in the play have, they have laid a layer of "literary youth" at the beginning of its birth.

In order to present the Chinese quality of the popular works of Asian theater, the Chinese version of the musical "Fan Letter" specially invited screenwriter Wang Lingyun to serve as the script adaptation, director Gao Ruijia led the direction, Liu Ai and Yan Jiaxuan served as choreographers and music directors, and gathered a group of actors who are active on the current musical stage and have both strength and popularity to form a creative team.

Synopsis

In the 40s of the last century, Shanghai, as an important publishing town, witnessed too many literary young people with ideals encountering, blooming, and then withering here.

At the age of 29, Kim Hae-myung was hailed as a genius novelist, and he and the writers formed the "Society of Seven" and adhered to the magazine "Chaohua". Zheng Weilan, who first entered the editorial room, had a secret in her heart: he had written letters and correspondence with Haiming for a long time under the pseudonym "Xia Guang".

During this period, the image of "Xia Guang" continued to improve and slowly grow under his pen...... She is a muse-like being. Her appearance brings light to Haiming and Weilan, and it also brings nightmares.

In this game of literature and emotion, some people are in love in the gap between truth and lies, and some people are struggling in the abyss of paranoia and vulnerability......
