On April 13, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the opening of the international passenger train of the China-Laos Railway, the railway authorities of China and Laos will open an additional pair of international passenger trains between the two famous tourist cities of Xishuangbanna, China and Luang Prabang, Laos.

According to the person in charge of the International Department of China Railway Group, in order to further meet the needs of passengers from all over the world for cross-border travel on passenger trains of the China-Laos Railway and better play the role of the golden channel, with the strong support of the relevant departments of the governments of China and Laos, the railway departments of the two countries have strengthened communication and coordination. Reached a consensus on cooperation, coordinated the use of cross-border transportation resources, and decided to arrange the opening of one pair of international passenger trains between Xishuangbanna and Luang Prabang Station on the basis of one pair of international passenger trains per day between Kunming South and Vientiane Station of the China-Laos Railway, so as to provide more convenient and efficient cross-border transportation services for passengers.

The additional international passenger trains, in the initial stage of operation, will run every Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a total of 4 days, and will stop at 6 stations such as Xishuangbanna, Mengla, Mohan, Boten, Muangsai and Luang Prabang, including the customs clearance time of the railway port, and the whole travel time including the customs clearance time of the railway port will only take about 5 hours, and the day trip between Xishuangbanna and Luang Prabang can be realized.

Among them, the D85 from Xishuangbanna to Luang Prabang departs from Xishuangbanna at 8:10 Beijing time and arrives at Luang Prabang at 13:12 on the same day, and the D86 from Luang Prabang to Xishuangbanna departs from Luang Prabang at 14:35 Beijing time and arrives at Xishuangbanna at 19:27 on the same day.

Xishuangbanna to Luang Prabang international passenger train uses the power concentration type "Fuxing" EMU to run, the maximum speed of 160 kilometers, 8 marshalling, including 1 first-class car, 7 second-class cars (including bars), a total capacity of 720 people, each group of seats are equipped with Chinese and Lao standard power sockets, using Chinese, Lao, English three languages to display travel service information, provide broadcasting services. The railway authorities of the two countries will flexibly set up cross-border and non-cross-border carriages of EMUs according to the cross-border passenger flow, and sell tickets according to the corresponding sections.

Since April 12, the railway authorities of China and Laos have been selling tickets for international passenger trains online and offline.

Among them, cross-border tickets for international passenger trains departing from Xishuangbanna can be purchased through the China Railway 12306 website (including the client) and the international ticket windows of 7 stations, including Kunming, Kunming South, Yuxi, Pu'er, Xishuangbanna, Mengla, and Mohan stations. Cross-border tickets for international passenger trains departing from Luang Prabang can be purchased through the Laos-China Railway Internet Ticketing System (LCR Ticket APP) and the international ticket windows of five stations, including Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang, Muang Sai and Boten stations.

It is worth reminding that passengers who purchase tickets through Internet channels must hold their valid passports used when purchasing tickets before boarding the train, and exchange them for paper tickets at the international ticket windows of the designated stations in the above China section and Laos section respectively.
