Lenovo Group's portfolio of smart infrastructure, laptops, desktops, monitors, tablets and Motorola smartphones will provide core support and assistance to F1 operations at the Lenovo China Grand Prix.

In recent years, focusing on the intelligent transformation strategy, Lenovo Group has built a solid foundation under the wave of AI with PARFAITE computing power, and at the same time, with computing power from the pocket to the cloud, and a panoramic AI layout, it has comprehensively led the transformation of hybrid artificial intelligence. F1 is also considering using Lenovo Group's AI technology.

While technology is helping F1 events, a group of 16-year-old high school students are also preparing for their own F1 with the help of Lenovo's AI and computing technology.

Last September, the Spykar team of Shanghai West High School, backed by Lenovo Group, competed against 68 teams from 26 countries at the World Finals of F1 in schools in Singapore. In the end, it won the 16th place in the world overall, which refreshed the best result of the Chinese team since participating in the event, and it was also the highest ranking of the seven Chinese teams participating in this competition.

As one of the world's most important STEM challenges, F1 in schools was born out of the well-known Formula 1 World Championship. It is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive science and technology innovation challenge that integrates science, technology, engineering, mathematics, design and marketing management. In order to build a faster race car, students need to perform 3D modeling, CNC machine cutting, thousands of wind tunnel tests, and massive data analysis to finally accurate all the data of the car to 3 decimal places, because everything is won and lost in "microseconds".

Behind such precision machining, strong computing power is required. Lenovo Group uses computing power and AI technology to help the Spykar team of Shanghai West Middle School. The students continued to optimize their car design using computing power provided by Lenovo, resulting in a historic breakthrough.

Not only that, in 2024, Lenovo Shanghai Research Institute will also carry out a course explanation for the Spykar team of Shanghai Shixi Middle School, including AR and MR technology, to help the team improve its scientific and technological capabilities from multiple perspectives.

Wang Jihua, a science and technology teacher and team instructor of Shixi Middle School, said that the team's performance has improved significantly in the past year or so, from ranking among the top 16 in the world in the 2023 international competition, to now using AI, AR, MR technology, all of which are inseparable from the technical assistance of Lenovo Group.

With the 2024 F1 in schools national tryouts just around the corner in May, Spykar's teenage team is using Lenovo AI PCs to design and continuously tune their cars. They will once again sprint to the World Finals.

At the Shanghai Exhibition Center 40 years ago, 13-year-old Li Jin showed off a computer program he had written, and the slogan "Computer popularization starts from dolls" was born from here, and changed the trajectory of countless people's lives. That year, Lenovo was also quietly established in a communication room of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Forty years later, a kilometer away from the Shanghai Exhibition Center, a group of 16-year-old children at Shanghai West Middle School, using computers produced by Chinese, designed their own F1 cars and programmed to record F1 speeds.

In the past 40 years, Lenovo Group has never stopped from upholding the concept of "one computer per family" to promote the popularization of home computers to today's AI-empowered reality of teenagers.

On April 18, the 2024 Lenovo Tech World will be held in Shanghai one day before the start of the 2024 FORMULA 1® Lenovo China Grand Prix. At that time, Lenovo Group's new vision, innovative technologies and achievements in the field of artificial intelligence will be displayed, and the birth of a "new species of AI" will be announced. We look forward to witnessing this wonderful moment together.
