We have repeatedly mentioned the US military's attempts to intervene in the Taiwan Strait by force: strategic bombers and attack nuclear submarines were dispatched to launch long-range stealth cruise missiles against the PLA's amphibious assault forces. In the simulated war between China and the United States in the Taiwan Strait, which was recently released by the US Center for Strategic and International Studies, a scene that fully demonstrated the strength of the US military but asked the PLA to fight a war hand in hand. According to the results of the exercise, the PLA lost a total of 23,000 people after landing on the island of Taiwan, resulting in the inability of follow-up combat operations to continue. Speaking of which, there is another set of operations: Outside the range of the Chinese army's air defense, the US long-range strategic bombers successively launched 450 stealth cruise missiles, destroying many main warships and amphibious assault ships in the Taiwan Strait, resulting in the loss of 15,000 people. Due to the heavy losses suffered by the amphibious transport forces, the advance of the PLA Army, which had already landed on the island of Taiwan, was stalled, and there were losses of 7,000 people. So, how great were the losses of the US military? They were also very heavy, including two aircraft carriers and 20 large surface warships, more than 100 fighter planes and 26 warships were destroyed in Japan, and all US military bases in Japan were destroyed.
The question now is: Is the result of such an exercise reasonable? Of course not, the US think tank is almost tied to the hands and feet of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in the war, and it has lost its bottom line.
First, the entire exercise did not take into account the problem of US bombers being intercepted by PLA fighters, and it seemed that they were invincible. In fact, based on the current development of space-based satellite reconnaissance networks and the long-range warning radar installed by the Chinese military, it is very difficult for US bombers to gain tactical suddenness when dealing with China. In the event that a large number of bombers are shot down, the losses of the US military will far outweigh the gains.
Second, US think tanks have been deducing that US fighter jets can calmly carry out the task of seizing air supremacy in the Taiwan Strait, forgetting that their tanker planes and early warning planes are the legitimate prey of the Chinese military. We often say that US fighter jets pose no threat to China, but the tactical organization based on tactical aircraft fighting in the Taiwan Strait is too complex, and the combat radius of stealth fighters, including the F-22 and F-35, is insufficient. China's J-16 has been equipped with the Thunderbolt-17 ultra-long-range air-to-air missile, which is prepared for US bombers, AWACS aircraft and tankers, which is an asymmetric advantage.
Third, during the entire exercise, the Chinese Rocket Force did not destroy the US military's node targets in the first place, that is, weapons such as the DF-26 and DF-27 did not exist at all. The U.S. military can calmly organize a military offensive from the second and third island chains.
Fourth, American think tanks believe that the J-20 is a 4.5-generation fighter, while the F-22 that the US military is facing retirement is more advanced. In other words, US think tanks still believe that the US military has the conditions to seize air supremacy.
Fifth, the Chinese army cannot be seen to dispatch unmanned combat forces such as unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned boats, cruise missiles, and unmanned ground vehicles to participate in the war.
Sixth, it does not take into account that the PLA does not launch an amphibious attack, but only adopts surgical strikes, and chooses the strategy of promoting reunification by force.
Seventh, the US think tank also fabricated 450 Rasmus stealth cruise missiles out of thin air, while the US military actually only has about 84.
Eighth, the U.S. military believes that the subsonic Rasmus cruise missile can easily break through the air defense network of China's maritime formations, and judging from the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine, the penetration capability of subsonic missiles is very poor. This is evidenced by the fact that the Ukrainian army regularly shoots down 100% of Russian subsonic missiles.
In fact, the biggest shortcoming of the US military is its geographical shortfall, and because the US military has to travel thousands of miles to fight at China's doorstep, this price will be very expensive in the era of great power wars. The second major shortcoming of the US military is the lack of advanced anti-ship missiles and land-based medium-range missiles, which has led to the situation of being beaten by the PLA. The Chinese military has absolutely powerful land-based medium-range missiles and the world's most complete military industrial industry, and this alone can cripple the US military and lose its global military hegemony.
