In order to fully demonstrate the role of improved varieties in increasing corn production and income, improve the popularity and promotion of high-quality and high-yield varieties, and promote the rapid improvement of corn yield in mainland China with "improved seeds + good methods", the National Corn Seed Industry Technology Innovation Center, together with the National Corn Industry Technology System and Syngenta Group China, plans to organize the 2024 corn high-yield competition, and is now soliciting new corn varieties from the whole industry.

1. Specific requirements

For the varieties participating in the primary screening, the varieties will be screened for dense and multi-resistant high-yielding varieties, and the varieties are required to be the varieties that have passed the two-year regional test and have not been commercialized; for the varieties participating in the advanced screening, a specific scheme will be designed, and experts will be organized for on-site acceptance at the time of harvest, and the variety requirements will be new varieties for the national and provincial examination in the past two years; certificates will be issued to the varieties with outstanding performance, and they will be released to the whole industry, and they will be included in the list of priority recommended varieties for the next year's high-yield competition, and priority will be given to recommending the transformation of varieties on the Syngenta Group's China Seed Industry Co-creation Platform.

Please pack the seeds properly, one seed bag for each variety, 0.5 kg of seeds for primary screening, 5 kg of seeds for advanced screening, mark the seed bag, and the name and contact information of the variety must be marked.

The 2024 Corn High Yield Competition Variety Solicitation Begins!

Since the implementation of the competition, the National Corn Seed Industry Technology Innovation Center has actively cooperated with key scientific research institutions and core enterprises in the whole industry in corn high-yield theory, genes, technology, germplasm resources and varieties, anchored the goal of improving corn yield, and continued to build an open source innovation and achievement transformation system. In 2023, a total of more than 150 varieties from more than 50 units will be collected, and a total of 8 points will be arranged for testing, with nearly 500 test points, and the top 5 varieties with higher yields than the control will be selected at each point for recommendation, and enter the next round of testing, and the varieties will be released in the near future, so stay tuned.
