According to the latest rules of this World Cup, men's singles is still divided into two stages: group stage and knockout stage. The 6 men's singles players in the national table tennis are: Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Liang Jingkun, Lin Gaoyuan, Wang Chuqin, and Lin Shidong.

The group stage, like the women's singles, is also seeded + serpentine draw, 48 players are ranked from 1 to 48, and then distributed into 16 groups, each group consists of 3 players, one seeded player and two unseeded players.

According to the grouping rules, No. 1 seed Wang Chuqin will be placed in Group 1, No. 2 seed Fan Zhendong will be placed in Group 2, No. 3 seed Liang Jingkun will be placed in Group 3, and No. 4 seed Ma Long will be placed in Group 4.
No. 8 seed Lin Gaoyuan will be randomly assigned to one of the 5th~8th groups, while the other two opponents will be randomly assigned 1 place each from the 29th~32nd and 33rd~36th ranked players.
The No. 13 seed Lin Shidong will be randomly assigned to one of the 13th~16th groups, while the other two opponents will be randomly assigned one place each from the 17th~20th ranked and the 45th~48th ranked players.
