On the evening of April 8th, as the first spring special of the Great World Drama School in April, all the actors and main creative team of the musical "A Date in This Life" made a collective appearance at the Great World Drama School. Including actors Huang Shengyi, Cai Xinru, Xu Hao, Yu Hongyang, etc., as well as director Cheng Peixian, composer Xu Weizun, the row is full. Everyone was on hand to meet audiences from all over the country and warm up for the upcoming performance. Gathering with friends in the music, communicating closely on and off the stage, allowing the audience to clearly and three-dimensionally experience the different excitement of the musical "A Date in This Life" from the front of the stage to the backstage, making the night full of laughter.
The story of the musical "A Date in This Life" focuses on a group of drama students who scatter like sparks, and reunite by chance after 15 years to re-enact the graduation drama of that year. The memories of youth, immature ideals, and unfinished love are rekindled. I believe that everyone who has had the experience of a campus drama club can find a strong emotional resonance in this drama. At the event, director Cheng Peixian and composer Xu Weizun, as representatives of the main creative team, shared the creative story and music design concept behind the repertoire. The play is interspersed with five "plays within plays", and through different narrative techniques, the audience is led to gain the extraordinary experience of watching five plays at one time in a play of "A Date in This Life".
At the scene, the crew arranged an audio-visual feast for everyone, especially presenting some songs of the repertoire, so that the audience could experience the charm of the musical "A Date in This Life" in advance. The reporter learned that this is also Huang Shengyi's first starring role in a musical. At the scene, she also sang an excerpt from the song "Don't Hesitate" in the play, singing the protagonist's inner declaration: "You have to listen to yourself, be yourself, don't doubt, don't hesitate, don't hesitate!", encouraging the audience to bravely pursue their dreams and love like Haoru in the play.
The musical "A Date in This Life" is the second musical produced by Shanghai Theater after "Love Shangri-La". The play is produced by Lai Shengchuan as the artistic director, the famous playwright Shen Yue's original script, Lai Shengchuan's exclusive theater - Shanghai Theater production, and Shanghai Hexi Culture Communication Co., Ltd. co-production. The premiere will be held from April 18 to April 27 at the Shanghai Theatre.
