Marshal Liu Bocheng served as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission in 1966 and later as vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
From this time on, his children also grew up and got married one after another. Liu Shuai set a rule for his children: after getting married, they will all move to their own work units and don't live with him anymore. He said: "I have good living conditions and good remuneration here, which is given by the party and the state in order to take care of me. You are married and have a family, and you should live independently, and you should no longer touch the light of your parents. ”
After 1970, Liu Bocheng's six children got married one after another, and they all lived with the employees of their own unit, and only went home to visit their parents on holidays.
It is worth mentioning that Liu Shuai's eldest son Taihang married the worker's daughter, named Xiao Yulan. The son of Shuaimen married the child of an ordinary worker, and Liu Shuai and his wife Wang Ronghua were very supportive.
When she got married, Liu Taixing was in the grassroots army, and Xiao Yulan lived in a 9-square-meter house assigned to her by her workplace, and the kitchen and toilet were shared.
Later, Xiao Yulan gave birth to a child, and her mother came from her hometown in Hunan to take care of her. The house really couldn't live in it, so the leader changed her to an 18-square-meter suite, and the kitchen and toilet were still shared.
Once, Liu Taixing returned to Beijing, and Wang Ronghua and Zhu De's wife Kang Keqing went to visit Taihang together.
When Taihang was in kindergarten in Yan'an, he was taken care of by Kang Keqing and called "Kang Mama". Xiao Yulan's mother said to Wang Ronghua and Kang Keqing embarrassedly:
"You see it's so crowded, there's nowhere to sit, there's nowhere to stand. ”
Wang Ronghua took the hand of his in-laws and said: "In terms of housing alone, the city is even inferior to the countryside, and now the masses still have three generations living in the same house!"
Kang Keqing also smiled and said: "This is much better than when I was in Yan'an." At that time, I brought Taihang back from kindergarten, and I slept in the bed with Mr. Zhu, and he slept on the chair that was put together. ”
Xiao Yulan, a doctor, works in a military hospital in the western suburbs of Beijing, commuting to and from work for more than three hours every day. So, she asked to move to the hospital. However, hospital housing is also tight and cannot be solved. Xiao Yulan saw that her request was useless, and wanted to ask her mother-in-law to come forward. When Wang Ronghua heard this, he said very resolutely: "I can't care about this kind of thing!"
As a result, Xiao Yulan had to go back and forth for three hours a day and live in the original small house.
This is Liu Shuai's family style.
Chen Guanren's "Ten Marshals of the Chinese People's Liberation Army: The Little-Known History of the Ten Major Commanders of the People's Liberation Army" published by the CPC History Publishing House recounted the incident. The book is a bestseller of the year, with sales of more than one million copies, and once ranked first on the best-selling list of China's military bestsellers (pictured).
