According to related news, the Audi S3 is about to usher in a mid-term facelift and will enter the market as a 2025 model. At the same time, the new car will be higher in horsepower and torque than the Volkswagen Golf R. Specifically, the Audi 2025 S3 will be equipped with an upgraded turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with a maximum power of 328 horsepower and a maximum torque of about 420 Nm, which is better than the current Golf R on paper. However, the Volkswagen Golf R will be updated later this year, and perhaps the power figures will also improve.
In addition to this, the new car will also be equipped with a rear torque divider, a technology that enables fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels. Combined with the newly added Dynamic Plus mode, the car sends as much torque as possible to the rear axle for a tail-end pleasant experience. Audi didn't call it a dedicated drift mode, but mentioned that the S3 now has a tendency to oversteer when the sportiest settings are activated.
Elsewhere, the new car has slightly shorter gear ratios than before, with a later upshift and an earlier downshift to maintain higher revs and thus more power. The acceleration time from 0 to 96 km/h takes 4.4 seconds, which is a bit faster than the old model, while the top speed remains unchanged at 250 km/h. In addition, the 19-inch wheels have 235/35 Falken performance tires, as well as larger front brakes with perforated discs and new two-piston calipers. Audi has also fitted the wishbone suspension with an evolution of S3 electronic stability control and stiffer bearings to improve handling.
