In 1960, Queen Chengshu of Peking University disappeared because she abandoned her husband and children, and her children finally found her 17 years later, and their reunion was moving. Born into a wealthy family, Wang Chengshu has shown extraordinary learning ability and tenacious perseverance since he was a child.
At the age of 18, she was admitted to Yenching University and became one of the only female students, and four years later, she graduated with three other people, showing her talent and perseverance. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, she chose to pursue further studies, pursuing a master's degree at her alma mater and working as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics.
During her Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, she collaborated with her supervisor on a number of important papers. In 1949, when the People's Republic of China was founded, she and her husband returned to China.
After returning to China, she joined the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and began her scientific research career. In 1958, the famous scientist Qian Sanqiang invited her to participate in thermonuclear fusion research, and in the face of the needs of the country, she resolutely decided to participate and remained incognito.
In 1964, China successfully exploded its first atomic bomb, which shocked the whole country, and Wang Chengshu made an indelible contribution to the country's nuclear weapons cause. It was not until she returned home from retirement that her exploits were announced.
Wang Chengshu said: "As long as the country needs me, no matter what difficulties and sacrifices I encounter, I will be duty-bound. "Her story inspires us to remember the dedication of our ancestors and to contribute to the prosperity of our country.
