According to Cambodian media news, on April 8, Prime Minister Hong Manai met with Cai Guanshen, chairman of Hong Kong Xinhua Group, and his delegation at the Peace Building.
During the meeting, Cai Guanshen, chairman of Xinhua Group, introduced that Xinhua Group began to enter Cambodia in 1994 to invest in the construction of seafood processing factories for export to the international market.
He said that the delegation to Cambodia included representatives of more than 70 companies, whose business involved in various fields such as technology and finance, digital, real estate, energy and tourism.
Cai Guanshen pointed out that the company plans to expand investment in five areas in Cambodia, namely: green special economic zone development investment projects, commercial buildings and apartment construction development projects, tourism development projects, electric vehicle charging station installation projects, and 5G telecommunication network construction projects.
Hong Manai expressed his gratitude and welcome for this. He said that the seventh government of Cambodia, like previous governments, had a clear vision to promote economic growth and thereby improve people's living standards. Cambodia's economy has grown and remained resilient, with economic growth of 5.6% in 2023 and is expected to grow by 6.6% by 2024.
He noted that in order to ensure a favorable competitive and business environment, the Cambodian government remains committed to ensuring peace, political stability and social order to boost investor confidence.
Regarding the green special economic zone development project and the electric vehicle project, Hun Manai suggested that Xinhua Group further explore with relevant ministries such as the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
He stressed that the Cambodian government has always attached importance to the use of clean energy, and the proportion of Cambodia currently using clean energy is more than 60%, and it is continuing to promote the use of clean energy to reach 70% by 2030.
Regarding the 5G telecommunication network construction project, Hong Manai suggested that Xinhua Group and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia conduct in-depth discussions.
