Refusing the mainland's rescue in Taiwan, the Taiwan authorities have traveled thousands of miles to find Turkey, Tsai Ing-wen: I am deeply grateful

As everyone knows, a strong earthquake has recently occurred on Taiwan Island, which has touched the hearts of the people on both sides of the strait. The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council was also the first to express its willingness to provide assistance, but this was resolutely rejected by Taiwan's "Mainland Affairs Council." The general meaning is that there is no need for the mainland to assist in disaster relief in this earthquake, and the DPP can handle it. But is that really the case?

Judging from the information disclosed by the Taiwan media, while the Taiwan authorities are refusing the mainland's rescue in Taiwan on the one hand, they are eagerly seeking external assistance on the other hand. As of 7:30 a.m. on April 6, the fundraising page on the homepage of Yahoo Japan, the cumulative amount of funds raised exceeded 120 million yen in just 2 days, and the cumulative number of donations exceeded 61,000. Japan's Ministry of Defense later said it would donate $1 million to assist Hualien in its post-disaster reconstruction. This made the DPP authorities feel as if they had received some great benefit for a while, and they were full of gratitude to Japan.

In addition to Japan, the Taiwan authorities have also sent a message of asking for help to Turkey, which is thousands of miles away. Later, it was announced that the Turkish rescue team would arrive on the island to help with the earthquake relief. As the first Turkish rescue team to come to Taiwan after the earthquake, after arriving on the island on the evening of the 6th, relevant personnel quickly took thermal sensors, drones and other equipment to the Taroko area of Hualien, which was severely affected by the earthquake, to assist in the post-disaster search and rescue operation. However, judging from the latest reports from Taiwan media, the search and rescue process did not go very smoothly. Although the seven Turkish search and rescue team members arrived at the forward command post of the Taroko Public Works Section on the morning of the 7th with two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), after performing three mission flights, they only successfully completed two image capture missions due to the steep environment of the Shaka base disaster area, limited canyon terrain, signals and instantaneous crosswinds. Tsai Ing-wen still said through her office spokesperson Lin Yuchan that the Taiwan authorities sincerely thank the Turkish government for its care and assistance, and hope that the benign force of mutual assistance between Taiwan and Turkey will continue to spread in the international community.

It has to be said that the Taiwan authorities have continued their usual hard-mouthed style in the past, and even though the rescue efforts are advancing slowly, they are still forcing a smile and showing a peaceful scene to the outside world, and this is completely treating the lives of those trapped people as a child's play and as a part of the DPP authorities' political operations. You know, up to now, the Hualien earthquake has caused 13 deaths, and 6 people are still missing, and rescue generally has a golden time, if this node is missed, then the possibility of survival of the lost people will be greatly reduced. If the Taiwan authorities had put aside their malicious suspicions at the beginning and let mainland rescue forces go to Taiwan instead of waiting for Turkey, which is thousands of miles away, many things might have become much easier.

There is no doubt that it is not difficult for us to find out through this incident that the DPP authorities simply lack the plot of one family on both sides of the strait, and they want to move closer to political operations in everything. In contrast, the mainland can be said to have released a lot of goodwill during this period of time. Judging from the number of PLA patrol planes that have been made public by Taiwan's defense department in recent times, the PLA has markedly reduced the number of warplanes patrolling Taiwan Island, and it is obvious that it does not want to exert too much pressure on the island at such a moment. Furthermore. Former Kuomintang "legislator" Cai Zhengyuan posted a photo on social platforms today pointing out that mainland entrepreneur Chen Guangbiao donated 10 million yuan to rescue and relieve the Hualien earthquake, and netizens on the island also launched heated discussions. Many people said that the fact that the Taiwan authorities have made a big deal about the little money donated by Japan without mentioning anything about the mainland is completely undermining the harmonious relations between the two sides of the strait.

In any case, as long as the Taiwan authorities continue to handle cross-strait relations with such a narrow mentality, the mainland side will only become more and more disappointed with them, and many things will not be so easy to discuss.
