What people didn't expect was that it was Toyota that bowed its head this time. On April 8, Tencent Auto reported that Toyota will adopt the "Toyota + Huawei + Momenta" three-in-one cooperation model for intelligent driving solutions for global models. Among them, Momenta will provide software technology, and Huawei will be responsible for hardware solutions, and the three companies will deeply integrate their respective advantages to create a new set of intelligent driving solutions.

It can also be seen from here that Toyota does not directly use Huawei's ADS high-end intelligent driving system, but will cooperate with Huawei and Momenta to develop intelligent driving systems. In other words, the cooperation model between Huawei and Toyota is not a smart car model or an HI model, but a traditional parts supplier model with the least "Chinese content".

So, can this new intelligent driving solution be successful? It's hard to say, although Huawei's hardware is relatively top-notch, such as 192-line lidar, in Yu Chengdong's words, at least one generation ahead of the industry. The parameters show that the lidar has 250 meters of ultra-long-distance accurate identification ability, 1.84 million points per second imaging ability, vertical resolution of 0.1°, radar scanning frequency of 20Hz, and the industry generally horizontal of 10Hz.

However, in addition to hardware, software is also important for a good intelligent driving system. Momenta, on the other hand, is not well-known in the industry, and there is still a certain gap compared with companies such as Baidu apollo, Pony.ai, Didi, AutoX, and WeRide. Therefore, it remains to be seen what kind of effect this intelligent driving system can present in the end.

Having said that, Toyota will definitely get more consumer attention because of the advancement of this matter, after all, this can tear off Toyota's "intelligent backwardness" label. Previously, Toyota has cooperated deeply with Huawei, and has greatly improved human-computer interaction, so that the ninth-generation Camry not only has multi-language mixing, continuous recognition, voiceprint recognition, but also the ability of face recognition.

Now, with the problem of the intelligent driving system being solved, Toyota's "obstacles" in the new energy era can be said to have been removed, and it only needs to be promoted on time. As mentioned earlier, Huawei's intelligent driving hardware is already at the top level in the industry, and Toyota's intelligent driving system is used in global models, so naturally it will not use hardware from small workshops. Based on this, the travel bureau predicts that in this tripartite cooperation, Momenta will play an auxiliary role at most, and it can even be said that Toyota uses a tool to "cover up the shame". After all, the best hardware is used, and if the software pulls the crotch, wouldn't it be in vain?

In addition, in addition to Toyota, Huawei is also a beneficiary of this cooperation, because according to Toyota's plan, the intelligent driving system is the first to be used in the global model. Huawei has always wanted to become the "next Bosch", to be the top supplier in the automotive circle, Toyota has a global volume that is obvious to all, with sales of more than 10 million units in 23 years, and is one of the five major car companies.

Therefore, this cooperation is likely to be a win-win situation for Huawei and Toyota. Relying on Toyota's market scale, Huawei has become a world-class supplier, wrestling with Bosch and Continental. Toyota relies on Huawei's intelligent driving hardware to develop an intelligent driving system that can save sales in the Chinese market to maintain its market share and even achieve growth.

After all, with the intelligent driving system, Toyota can further widen the gap with Volkswagen in the Chinese market.
