When evaluating Li Yong's calligraphy, Mi Fu's attitude is not as bad as has always been recognized. In fact, Mi Fu is very precious to Li Yong's calligraphy.
Mi Fu loves collecting all his life. In order to have a glimpse of Li Yong's "Guanghachiro Post", he even did not hesitate to exchange other paintings and calligraphy with the grandson of a great collector, which shows the importance he attached to Li Yong. He also bought Li Yong's "How Hot to Ask for Kudzu Powder Post", and praised Li Yong's calligraphy as "Peng Que Huanghuang, talented", "Running Yuying, Xiuyi Chunfang".
Mi Fu recorded his exchange with Li Yong calligraphy in the "Bao Jin Yingguang Collection". He worked hard to restore Li Yong's original work and warned the world to be careful. He is confident in his judgment.
The "Baojin Yingguang Collection" also records the incident of Li Yong's three posts being collected by the Confucian scholars of Lü Gong. Mi Fu recorded his intuitive feelings about these three posts. Mi Fu is so shrewd, but he is still willing to pay a lot of money in exchange for Li Yong's book traces.
Mi Fu is also a rare calligrapher in the Song Dynasty who is good at framing and restoration. His cherishing of Lishu can be seen.
