After the man became addicted to drugs abroad, he embarked on the road of purchasing drugs on behalf of others, hiding drugs in notebooks, women's underwear and even dissolving them in oral liquid and then couriering them to China, and the means of drug concealment continued to escalate. According to the Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People's Court, the defendant Zhou was sentenced to 15 years in prison, deprived of political rights for 3 years, and confiscated 30,000 yuan of personal property for the crime of drug smuggling.
Zhou went abroad to work when he was 20 years old, and had been living abroad for nearly 30 years at the time of the crime. Because the country where he is located has a low crackdown on drugs, not only is it easy to buy drugs, but even a small amount of money is not illegal, and he gradually became addicted to drugs.
In May last year, Ma Moumou (handled in a separate case) asked Zhou to buy drugs on behalf of him on the grounds that it was inconvenient to buy drugs in China. After Zhou purchased drugs in his country, he mailed them to Ma Moumou in China by courier, and since then he has started the road of drug smuggling.
From May to July last year, Zhou mailed methamphetamine (ice) to domestic buyers by courier six times overseas to earn drug money. In order to evade customs supervision, Zhou hid drugs in a variety of ways: at first, he used more traditional smuggling methods, hiding drugs in canned rice cereal, hollowed-out notebooks or women's underwear and mailing them into the country. As the number of drug smuggling increased, the method of drug concealment was escalated, and in two of these transactions, the drugs were dissolved in water and mailed in bottles of collagen oral liquid.
In July last year, Zhou's friend said that there was a new product to invite Zhou to "taste", and Zhou readily agreed. However, because Zhou had already returned to China, he instructed others abroad to dissolve 10 grams of drugs in oral liquid and mail them to his domestic residence. Zhou was arrested when he signed for the package, and the police seized drugs and seized 5 glass elbows and 1 plastic hose used for drug use. After Zhou arrived at the case, he truthfully confessed the above criminal facts, and his domestic buyers were arrested one after another. After weighing and identification, Zhou smuggled a total of 92.17 grams of drugs on 6 occasions.
The Beijing No. 4 Intermediate People's Court held that Zhou's conduct had constituted the crime of drug smuggling, and that the court finally made the above judgment in accordance with the Criminal Law, in view of the fact that he truthfully confessed the facts of the crime after being brought into the case, voluntarily pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, and had a good attitude of admitting guilt and repentance, and that most of the drugs involved in the case did not flow to society.
Judge's Reminder: In recent years, the Beijing Fourth Intermediate People's Court has concluded a number of cases of drug smuggling into China, and most of the defendants have become accustomed to the relatively lax drug policy of their countries, thus embarking on the illegal road of drug abuse and trafficking, undermining the mainland's drug management system and harming the lives and health of the people. The mainland has always maintained a "zero tolerance" attitude toward narcotics and has adopted thunderous measures to crack down on drug-related crimes. According to article 347 of the Penal Code, it is an offence to smuggle drugs, regardless of the quantity, even 0.1 grams.
Nowadays, the methods of drug-related crimes are constantly being renovated, but even the most covert crimes will eventually be discovered, and the broad masses should cherish their lives, reject the erosion of all types of drugs, and beware of going astray.
