As a matter of fact, the background of this visit is quite complicated, with the escalating situation in the Taiwan Strait on the front, the plan to hold a live-fire exercise in Kinmen, and the imminent arrival of Lai Qingde's assumption of office.
This series of incidents has made the development of cross-strait relations even more confusing.
It is against this background that the mainland also attaches great importance to Ma Ying-jeou's visit, and the standard of reception is significantly higher than last year, and Song Tao, director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, has come to personally pick up the plane.
Perhaps because he felt the sincerity of the Chinese side, or perhaps because he knew the PLA's determination to reunify the two sides of the strait, Ma Ying-jeou's attitude during this visit was very positive.

But Ma Ying-jeou is a person who understands the times and does not want to let Baodao become a puppet of Western countries.
The day before Ma Ying-jeou's departure, Rosenberg, chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan, visited Taiwan and held meetings with leaders of major political factions on the island.
On the surface, it is to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, but in fact, it is to find out whether Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland is of his own will, whether it is sent by the authorities, or whether it is invited by the mainland.
In addition, Rosenberg also wanted to know the content of Lai's inaugural speech and his future policy direction, and to grasp the attitudes of the blue and white parties.
But apart from Ma Ying-jeou, the KMT now seems to be compromising with the green camp, and Zhu Lilun has constantly denied the consensus, and has repeatedly expressed the KMT's "anti-communist and pro-American" stance.
Just as Ma Ying-jeou was visiting the mainland, Zhu Lilun secretly visited the United States after leaving Taiwan and declared in a high-profile manner: "Chinese mainland wants to take back Taiwan Island, which harms the interests of the United States."

Not only Zhu Lilun, but also Xia Liyan, Han Kuo-yu and others deliberately isolated Ma Ying-jeou, and chose to directly ignore the DPP's suppression and smearing of Ma Ying-jeou.
Therefore, it can be seen that the KMT has now released a signal of rejection of reunification.
However, it is a pity that the United States itself is now crossing the river with mud, and in the face of the situation of "internal and external troubles", Biden has made it clear in the phone call between the Chinese and US heads of state that he does not support "Taiwan independence".
If the "pro-American" people on the island still have the idea of "relying on the United States to resist reunification," they will certainly bring about their own destruction.
With the hard-line attitude shown by Zhu Lilun, Xia Liyan and others, the Chinese side will not let them be arrogant, and the mainland's attitude towards politicians on the island has obviously begun to change.
As long as both the DPP and the KMT oppose the "consensus of '92," the mainland will not have any illusions about it, and in the end it will have no choice but to complete cross-strait reunification in a way that no one wants to see.
In short, during Ma Ying-jeou's current visit to the mainland, he has repeatedly sent positive signals, clearly supporting the "consensus of '92" and hoping for peaceful development between the two sides of the strait.
Of course, the premise of all this is "reunification," and it is unrealistic and impossible to talk about peace without reunification.
The liberation of Taiwan is bound to be an unfinished historical task and mission following the War of Liberation!
