For the first time, the Chinese and Burmese police carried out a joint crackdown in the Mujie area of northern Myanmar
352 Chinese suspects of telecommunications network fraud were handed over to us
In order to continue to promote the in-depth development of the special action to crack down on telecommunications network fraud in northern Myanmar, the Chinese police and the Myanmar police recently carried out international police and law enforcement cooperation, and for the first time carried out a joint crackdown operation in the Mujie area of northern Myanmar, and successfully arrested 807 suspects who committed cross-border telecommunications network fraud. Among them, there are 455 Myanmar criminal suspects and 352 Chinese criminal suspects. According to the agreement between the two sides, all Chinese criminal suspects were handed over to China on March 31, and the Burmese criminal suspects were dealt with by the Burmese side. This operation is another major achievement of the police cooperation between China and Myanmar in police law enforcement, and demonstrates the firm determination and clear position of the two countries to jointly crack down on cross-border telecommunications network fraud.
Since last year, in response to the grim situation of telecommunications network fraud in northern Myanmar, the Ministry of Public Security has continued to deepen international police and law enforcement cooperation with Myanmar law enforcement agencies, and jointly carried out a series of crackdowns, with a total of 48,000 Chinese suspects involved in fraud being handed over to China, and the situation of telecommunications network fraud in northern Myanmar has improved significantly. However, there are still some fraud groups in the Mujie area of northern Myanmar who are lucky, commit crimes against the wind, and even participate in fraud and protect fraud with arms, which is vile in nature and serious in harm. In order to resolutely crack down on the arrogance of telecommunications network fraud syndicates and comprehensively eliminate the fraud dens in the Mujie area, the Ministry of Public Security and the Myanmar Police Headquarters held several rounds of talks and consultations, reached an agreement, and decided to launch a joint crackdown operation.
Recently, according to the clues of fraud dens and related personnel provided by our public security organs, the Myanmar Police Headquarters sent personnel to the Mujie area of northern Myanmar to organize and command local law enforcement forces to carry out centralized arrest operations, and arrested 352 Chinese suspects involved in fraud, including 21 behind-the-scenes "gold masters", organization leaders and backbones, 51 criminal suspects at large, and a large number of computers, mobile phones, fraud scripts and other crime tools were seized at the scene. At present, all Chinese criminal suspects and the evidence involved in the case have been smoothly handed over to our side through the Ruili border port in Yunnan, and the Ministry of Public Security has deployed public security organs in Anhui, Jiangsu and other places to escort the criminal suspects back in an orderly manner and make every effort to carry out the investigation and handling of the case.
The relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Public Security said that the crime of telecommunications network fraud has become a global problem in cracking down on governance, and strengthening international police and law enforcement cooperation is the trend of the times. The Chinese police will continue to deepen police and law enforcement cooperation with relevant countries and regions, continue to carry out in-depth joint crackdown operations, resolutely eradicate fraud dens, arrest those involved in fraud in accordance with the law, resolutely curb the high incidence of cross-border telecommunications network fraud, and earnestly safeguard the safety of people's lives and property. The public security organs are telling telecommunications network fraudsters that they should clearly understand the situation, restrain themselves from the precipice, return to China as soon as possible, and turn themselves in as soon as possible, so as to strive for leniency.
