Up to now, Bohou Village has opened 64 homestays with 2,013 rooms. With the development of the homestay industry, the villagers have become the most direct beneficiaries. In 2010, Zhang Hailiang, a graduate of Hainan University's School of Environment and Plant Protection from Shangqiu, Henan Province, chose his first job in Rose Valley. After graduating, Zhang Hailiang started as a planter in Rose Valley and is currently working as the manager of the agriculture and forestry department. Over the past 14 years, he has used the knowledge and skills he has learned to help the development of Sanya's tropical rose industry.
"Sanya is a tropical region, and planting temperate roses requires a lot of technology, such as summer pruning, surface sun protection, nutrient regulation, ......" Looking at the patches of well-growing roses, Zhang Hailiang said that at present, the Rose Valley not only realizes the cultivation of roses in tropical saline-alkali land, but also ensures that there are flowers to enjoy all year round.
Thanks to the efforts of Zhang Hailiang and his colleagues, roses in Rose Valley bloom 3 to 4 times a year. "The flowering period is usually 30 to 45 days apart, and after scientific pruning and fertilization, we have achieved regular blooming of roses. Zhang Hailiang said that this planting technology allows roses in different areas of the Rose Valley to bloom in turn, showing a sea of roses of different colors throughout the year.
Talking about the difficulties of growing roses in Sanya, Zhang Hailiang said bluntly: "High temperature and drought. Every year, we will formulate a rose pruning and fertilization plan according to the climate of Sanya, especially the long-term drought can easily cause a large area of roses to wilt. "In order to further scientifically and accurately maintain roses, Rose Valley has introduced an integrated automatic irrigation system of water and fertilizer, so that crops are always in a state of sufficient water and nutrients, and the supply can be flexibly adjusted according to the growth needs of crops.
Looking at the rose garden, which has been guarded for 14 years, Zhang Hailiang said happily: "I have seen people here who are striving for a well-off life through hard work, and I have seen earth-shaking changes in people's lives. ”
Today, the tropical rose industry has embarked on the road of integrated development with the help of the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port. Rose Valley has developed into a tropical rose industry base with rose culture as the carrier and rose industry as the core, integrating rose planting, seedling cultivation, R&D and sales of rose derivative products, rose culture display, and leisure and vacation.
