In 2020, pilot Xu Yanjun and his comrades-in-arms were tasked with flying the Y-20 to Incheon Airport in South Korea for the first time to welcome the martyrs of the volunteers back to China.

In the 2008 8.0-magnitude earthquake in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province, this unit was ordered to use a domestically produced Y-8 aircraft to fly to the epicenter loaded with materials and personnel, and set up "air rescue channels" for the people.
