Every year around December, the herons fly to warmer places, and in February, the herons return. Because there are many natural predators of egrets, especially the cubs have no ability to resist natural predators. Build a nest together, and if attacked, the herons and their husbands can also flock to fight against foreign enemies. The local sorghum trees, cypress trees, and green bar trees, which are tall and tall, are an excellent location for herons and couples to collectively build nests and raise their offspring. In the town of Berlingou, Heron took advantage of the local tree species to solve the problem of "housing". The source of food is even closer to the water.
Herons forage mostly in shallow waters or marshes near water, but also in shallow lakes and ponds. Frogs, fish, snakes, and even baby mice are on their recipes. The Berlin Lake National Wetland Park, adjacent to Changling Village, is the "gourmet back garden" of these herons. In Zhaohua, the heron not only solved the problem of food and housing, but also received VIP treatment. In November last year, Zhaohua District invested about 350,000 yuan to build a heron ecological protection park in Shuangmiao Village, Taigong Town, in combination with the protection of ancient trees, and the living environment of herons was further improved. At the same time, Changling Village and Shuangmiao Village, where the herons live, have demarcated heron protection areas, set up a team of ecological rangers, and carried out patrols on a regular basis to stop and intervene in behaviors that affect the lives of herons.
