Question: After receiving an offer, will drop the A-level of Gate 4 affect the offer?
The student said that he applied for 4 A-levels and got an offer, but later decided to drop a subject in Year 13, so there are only 3 A-levels, but if these three subjects have achieved good results, is it possible for the university to withdraw the offer, especially Oxford/Cambridge/LSE? I am currently a Year12 student and am considering whether I should continue to study 4 courses next year.
Solution: Universities may or may not accept it, and you need to ask for their consent to drop a fourth subject, as they will take into account all your subjects and grades when deciding whether to make you an offer.
Before applying to university, dropping the fourth subject will be more straightforward. However, the London School of Economics and Political Science did say that if the other two subjects are Mathematics and Further Mathematics, they prefer your third A-level course to be Writing, so check with the admissions office that Economics is an acceptable third subject.
Asking for university advice is the most important thing
Subjects within the general offer conditions are basically not allowed to drop, and subjects other than the Con conditions are much more relaxed.
If you plan to drop an A-level after getting an offer, the best way to do this is to consult the university you want to go to directly, the university allows you to drop, and if the university does not allow it, then you can only continue to study.

Before making a final decision, it is advisable to also discuss with your school and any other universities you have an offer to see what they think.

If I want to drop an A-level, will it affect the offer?
UCL indicates that the remaining subjects must be able to meet all the conditions in the offer. If the subject you want to give up is not specified in the admission conditions, or if it is a requirement of the course, then the withdrawal of the subject will usually not affect your offer.
The school needs to be contacted and provided: full name, UCAS ID, UCL student number, course name, subjects no longer being studied, and qualifications.

Can I drop one of my A-level courses?
If you drop one of your A-level grades before receiving an offer, you will need to update your UCAS application and inform the school as soon as possible, as the offer will be based on all A-level subjects and grades you have achieved.
If you want to drop A-level subjects that are not included in the offer after you get the offer, and you are still able to meet the offer conditions through the remaining subjects, the offer will not be affected. You will also need to update your UCAS application accordingly to inform the school that the subject will be waived to ensure that there is no delay when the A-level results are released as the school waits for your A-level results.
If you want an A-level subject to be specified as part of the offer conditions, giving it up will result in you not being able to meet your offer conditions and making you ineligible for admission at Imperial.
