Li Hongye, director of the first department of pediatrics in the hospital, said that in the early stage of whooping cough, it mostly manifested as cough, runny nose, sneezing and other symptoms. Pertussis is mainly transmitted by droplets, and patients are the main source of infection, and the most contagious is from 1~2 days before the onset of the disease to 3 weeks during the course of the disease, and the carriers and patients with atypical symptoms are also infectious. It is understood that the early manifestations of whooping cough do not look much different from the common cold, sometimes there is no fever at all, and there may be almost no pulmonary signs throughout the course of the disease. Once it progresses to the cramp stage, the disease progresses rapidly, and can lead to respiratory failure and even death in severe cases.
