Chip introduction

IP2006H

IP2006H is a general-purpose multi-modal flyback controller IC for applications up to 100W, with a withstand voltage capability of up to 65V and the ability to eliminate the need for LDOs in the 5-20V output range. The chip supports advanced jitter technology, which optimizes conduction performance, especially in rectification, by jitter near frequencies and trough turn-ups. It also features balanced input/output compensation to ensure stability over a wide range of inputs and outputs.

Compared with traditional analog AC-DC controllers, IP2006H offers a wide range of configuration options, such as drive voltage, operating frequency, and various protection thresholds, which can be configured once via OTP programming. OPEC brought us the all-new Sling Forward at the 2024 Asia Fast Charging Conference Converter (SFC) circuit topology, this architecture through its transformer reset mechanism in a fixed time, independent of the input and output voltage changes, allows the DC-DC converter duty cycle to exceed 0.5, and the resonant reset peak is proportional to the input volt seconds, the shutdown voltage of the primary power switch is superimposed by the input voltage and the resonant reset voltage, which enhances the withstand voltage and system reliability.

The current stress of the Sling Forward Converter is independent of the input and output voltages, and for GaN, the switching loss is basically zero due to the characteristics of ZVS soft switching. The SFC transformer works in the third and first quadrants, which improves the core utilization efficiency, doubles the maximum magnetic density, and then reduces the number of winding turns and the core winding window area, which is conducive to reducing the volume of the transformer.
