On March 21, the 2024 National Canoe Sprint Spring Championship kicked off at the Guangdong International Rowing Center, with more than 450 athletes from 23 teams including Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Shanghai, Shandong and the National Canoe Training Team competing for gold medals in 22 events, including men's 500m, 1000m and women's 200m, 500m and 1000m. In the men's double kayak 500m final on March 22, Linqu athlete Zhang Dong, who represented the national training team, and teammate Bu Tingkai won the championship together.

In the men's double kayak 500m final on the 22nd, the champion combination of the national training team Bu Tingkai/Zhang Dong easily won the championship with a time of 1:31.607, and the Shandong combination Shang Yongkang/Chen Weiyang won the second place with a time of 1:34.135. After the game, Zhang Dong said that since the beginning of winter training last year, he has been training in Guangdong with the national team, and this time participating in the National Canoe Sprint Spring Championship is also a test of the effect of winter training. In this competition, Zhang Dong will also participate in the finals of the men's single kayak 1000m and the men's quadruple kayak 500m.
