I just came out of driving school basically open the manual transmission, manual transmission is my main transportation model, but I don't know if you have found that the manual transmission model as long as the gear is appropriate, you are willing to step on the accelerator, then its power is better, no matter whether your displacement is large or small. But the automatic transmission is different, if the displacement of the automatic transmission model is different at high speed, and you don't use the right gear, you will find that its power is very weak, and even appear in a situation of insufficient power.
In fact, this is not that the engine power of our car is not enough, the power requirements of our daily car for the engine are really not high, the power of the general engine is enough for more than 60 kilowatts, but the current models are more than 100 kilowatts of engine power. Therefore, when there is a lack of power, it is not that the power of the engine is not enough, but that the mode in which we drive the automatic transmission model is not right.
For automatic transmission models, the mode of D gear is to take into account fuel consumption and power, which means that in the state of D gear, fuel consumption can not be too high, and the power can not be too weak. That means that in D mode, the engine's power is limited to a relatively moderate range, it is not too low, but there is no way to burst out the maximum power of the engine. So you will think, alas, my car has more than 100 kilowatts of this power, why is there such a situation of lack of power when running at high speeds.
Many people say that the S gear is overtaking, which is mainly because the output of the engine is more powerful in the S gear mode, which means that the car drives more violently and has more power. But in fact, S gear is not a specific overtaking gear, it is just a sport mode, in this mode, the power of the engine will give you the maximum play, you feel that the power is not enough to slam the accelerator in S mode on it.
So when the automatic transmission is running at high speed, you use D gear and you use S gear to get this driving experience is completely different, when you use D gear, you may overtake more slowly, and even, you have been side by side with others for a long time, you have no way to surpass. But it's different with S gear, you will feel that the engine noise is louder when you are in S gear, and you can definitely feel that the fuel consumption of the vehicle will increase more. But on the other hand, you will find that when you want to overtake, you can press the accelerator very quickly and the car will speed up very quickly. The throttle of the whole car will feel more sensitive when stepped on, and it will not feel soft like D gear, which is their biggest gap.
I myself have an automatic transmission model with a displacement of 1.8 displacement, and I also have an automatic transmission model with a displacement of 1.0T, and I have also driven a 2.0 and a 2.5 model in recent years. To be honest, the smaller the displacement car at high speeds, the worse the power when using D gear. When driving the car with a displacement of 1.0t runs at high speed, the biggest feeling to me is that the throttle is very tight, that is, you step on the accelerator to go down, the car does not have much feeling, you know that the car is speeding up, but you will not feel that the speed is very fast, if you want to overtake, it is very easy to be unable to do so. But even if your car's displacement is only 1.0, if your car has S gear, you will find that the engine speed will be pulled higher when you switch to S gear, and the power of the car will rise all of a sudden, and the acceleration is also very fast, which is the difference between D gear and S gear.
Some cars have some gearboxes that do not have S gear, but in the process of driving, we can activate the mode of S gear by pressing the accelerator deeply with our big feet. Although you are still hanging in such a state of D gear, but, the gearbox has entered the mode of S gear at this time, you will find that the whole car has become better at once, and the engine shift speed is higher, giving you the feeling that as long as you step on the accelerator deeply, the output of the engine will be better, and the speed will be faster, in fact, this is the car has entered the mode of S gear.
In general, when the automatic transmission model is running at high speed, if your car has a smaller displacement and weaker power, then after you switch to the S gear, you will find that the power of the car is better, the throttle is more flexible, and the overall driving experience will be better. And at high speed, due to the fact that this one is faster, all kinds of noise itself is relatively large, although the engine noise will be greater in the S gear state, but this little increase in noise will not affect your driving comfort, but because you can get better power, you will find that it is much more comfortable to run high speed with S gear and run high speed with D gear.
